Only God Forgives has released a cool new poster online at Entertainment Weekly , featuring a neon dragon logo and the slogan “time to meet the devil”.
Much of the promotional material so far has revolved around Ryan Gosling’s battered and bruised countenance, so its nice to see something a little more creative for Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest.
The new film casts Gosling as Julien, the proprietor of a Thai boxing club in Bangkok that also doubles as a front for his family’s drug-smuggling operation.
His life becomes more complicated still when his fearsome mother (Kristin Scott Thomas) pitches up in Thailand, demanding he avenge his late brother by killing the legendary cop who caused his death.
From the footage we’ve seen so far, this one looks to be as eye-wincingly violent as Drive , and every bit as cool. Put simply, we can’t wait.
Co-starring Tom Burke, Vithaya Pansingarm and Byron Gibson, Only God Forgives opens in France on 22 May 2013, with a UK date to be confirmed. According to the poster, it'll open in the US on 19 July. In the meantime, you can check out the new poster, below…
