Catch a glimpse of Besson's freerunning flick

Maybe you remember that BBC advert where the fella leaps across a London skyline just to get home to watch the telly? Maybe you’ve seen one of the many documentaries like Jump Britain. Or maybe you’re even crackers enough to throw yourself from pillar to post… The point is, freerunning (also known as parkour) is starting to pop up everywhere - even on totalfilm.com.

District 13 is a Luc Besson produced flick that is packed with martial arts set pieces and bulging with eye-popping parkour set ups. Starring parkour co-founder and bloke from said BBC ad, David Belle, the tale centres on the ghettoes of Paris in 2010 as an undercover cop and ex-thug try to worm their way into a gang in order to defuse a neutron bomb.

The movie is helmed by Pierre Morel (cinematographer on The Transporter and Unleashed) and if this clip is anything to go by, he’s crafted a movie that’s going to be sweeter than Jack Black’s room service order.

Belle’s fellow parkour founder, Sebastian Foucan, can be seen on the big screen in November as he throws himself around a building site in an effort to escape Daniel Craig’s Bond in Casino Royale.

As for District 13, it’s set to hit cinemas on 21 July and will debut at the UK’s first Martial Arts Film Festival, Seni06 , held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on the 6 and 7 of May.
