In issue 216 of Total Film magazine , Zoe Saldana tells us that she was initially confused about the Marvel-verse when approached by the mega-studio about Guardians Of The Galaxy .
“I was like, Guardians?" she says. "There's a person that's a tree and there's a racoon? Apparently they fight with The Avengers. I didn't even know who The Avengers were!"
The 35-year-old actress adds that part of the reason she eventually signed up – to play green-skinned alien Gamora – was down to director James Gunn.
"He's my kind of director," she enthuses. "Animated, passionate, alive, young, fresh, full of ideas, and willing yo give 150 per cent."
