WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Game of Thrones season 6, episode 1.
Now that we've all seen the first episode of Game of Thrones season 6 (and if you haven't, what have you been doing with your life?), HBO's official Making of Game of Thrones blog has released some close-up shots of the props used in that first major death. And as well as being a cool sneak peek for fans, they also tell us a bit about what to expect for the rest of the series.
As we know, the second of Cersei's illegitimate children met their demise at the end of season 5, and this time we actually cared because too-sweet-for-her-own-good Myrcella really didn't deserve it. Obviously, this wasn't going to end well for Prince Doran, but we doubt anyone saw him meeting his maker this way. He gets a letter telling him about Myrcella's death and before he can even finish reading it, Ellaria stabs him to death.
The Princess Myrcella died by poison on our return journey. I suspect Ellaria not you, but my sister will demand war. I doubt Ellaria’s head will appease her but it is a start, a long with your nieces. Your son cannot stay in King’s Landing. I am sending him back on the same ship.
Jaime's in for a disappointment as we now know he's not getting Ellaria's head (yet) and Prince Trystane certainly won't be making it back to Dorne alive. The Making of Game of Thrones blog also release images of the hidden knife Ellaria used to stab the Prince.
Game of Thrones season 6 airs on HBO each Sunday in the US, and a day later on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
