Outlast 2's first gameplay has murder farms, cornfields & SO MUCH NOPE

PAX happened at the weekend and some people apparently got to go hands on with Outlast 2, Red Barrel's follow up to its found footage horror game. The original used its night vision camera mechanic to incredibly stressful effect and this looks like it isn't letting up at all.

There's a new setting this time, leaving the original's asylum behind in favour of a farm. It's so much worse, with barns full of body part and a sequence where you're pushing through a cornfield that I'm not even keen on watching, let alone playing.

There's a far more 70-80s horror vibe here, Texas Chainsaw Massacre for example, and just about any film you can think of with a rural mid-western murder vibe. It feels like red Barrels has picked a far richer world to play with this time which is both great (more scary) and terrible (more scary).
