OlliOlli gets cross buy on 3DS and Wii U

Thinking about picking up OlliOlli on Wii U or 3DS when it releases for Nintendo systems next month? Well guess what, you don't have to choose. That's right, the super stylish skateboarding / rhythm game will be one of the first titles with full cross buy support on Nintendo systems.

That term was originally coined for PlayStation, where it meant buying a downloadable game on PS3, PS4, or PS Vita also included complimentary copies for one or more of the other systems. It's one of the most sensible trends in the gaming market over the last few years, so it's awesome to see Nintendo getting into the act.

OlliOlli won't the first Wii U/3DS games to award buyers a copy of the other version - that honor will go to Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars when it releases on March 5 in North America and March 20 in Europe. To be fair, Squids Odyssey kind of did it last summer, though that was only offered to European customers for purchasing the 3DS version. Either way, it's promising to see Nintendo open up to this great, consumer-friendly practice.

An Xbox One version is also planned to release in the same (currently unspecified) week of mid-March. OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood will hit PS4 and PS Vita on March 3 in North America and March 4 in Europe.
