Lost Planet 3 new trailer revealed at Gamescom

Capcom seems to understand the Western audience better than any Japanese publisher/developer. They understand perfectly which parts of Japanese culture translate well into Western games. For instance, the giant, hulking, beautiful mechs seen in the trailer (opens in new tab) below.

The end of the trailer reminds that the title is headed for an early 2013 release, which is new territory for the Lost Planet series. The first game (opens in new tab) launched in December 2006 while Lost Planet 2 (opens in new tab) arrived in May 2010. Perhaps Capcom is still trying to find the perfect niche for LP.

Lost Planet has always had its problems, but a new game in the series is still something we look forward to. The unique nature of the gameplay gets us a little excited every time to see where they're planning to take it. So far, we're digging this new work-a-day miner protagonist, and are looking forward to seeing what else (opens in new tab) they can do with the LP formula.
