This man has a secret. A double identity. To most, he is known as Jonathan Jacques-Belletete, talented and successful Art Director of Deus Ex: Human Revolution at Eidos Montreal. But when he takes off his glasses, he magically transforms into Adam Jensen, lead character in the very same game. It's a fiendishly clever disguise that he used to augment withthis beanie hat. But we've since seen the truth...
Above: This still froman interviewheld last October shows how a hat and glasses DO work as a disguise
Now that Deus Ex: Human Revolution is nearly finished, he's ditched the hat, allowing us to see what's really going on:
Above: Did he really think we wouldn't notice? He's even sitting the same!
In a much morerecentinterview, Jonathan sat right next to a poster of the new game's protagonist, Adam Jensen. Did he design the lead character to look like himself? Or is it just that people's dogs look like their owners? Just in case you were left in any doubt as to how close the resmblance is, I've used Photoshop to remove his glasses, leaving the rest untouched. Look at this:
Above: See? With the glasses gone he looks exactly like the man in the game. Spooky, huh?
Not that we're complaining, of course. It's a good look. And I can totally understand the thinking behind it.I did once consider styling my hair like Ryo Hazuki but, tellingly,I didn't go through with it. You've got to know when to stop.
