Ever since Pirates of the Caribbean surprised everyone and became a phenomenal success in 2003, Disney have been keen to capitalise by turning their attractions into movies.
Jon Favreau is leaving Iron Man behind to focus on bringing Magic Kingdom to the big screen, and Guillermo del Toro has an adaptation of The Haunted Mansion on his heaving schedule (which surely can't be worse than the Eddie Murphy version).
Now there has been word that Disney are looking to turn attractions that never even got made into big-budget family blockbusters, with the LA Times reporting that The Museum of the Weird has nabbed a writer.
The attraction itself, basically a surreal ghost house, never got made, though Walt was really keen on the idea.
Ahmet Zappa is the person whose been tasked with writing the script, which will no doubt be closer in tone to The Haunted Mansion than Pirates of the Caribbean .
This is in the very early stages at the moment, so we'll have to wait until the script has been turned in before finding out if this is going to nab a big-name director.
