10 Worst Pop Star Appearances in SF 1

Worst SF performance: Feyd-Rautha in Dune
Pop fame: Lead singer of The Police
SF fame: Not satisfied with just singing about walking on the moon, Sting launched himself into SF in a big way. He played Baron Frankenstein in The Bride and Martin in the big-screen version of Brimstone & Treacle, and had a small role in The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen. On TV, he appeared in pretentious fantasy one-off Artemis 81, and did his bit for Gaia by voicing a character in ecologically-friendly toon Captain Planet and the Planeteers. His performance as psycho-baddie Feyd-Rautha in Dune, however, sticks in the memory like a fishbone in the throat. The most memorable thing about his appearance are his go-faster pants; ironic considering that's how most critics described his acting. He glowers and struts, his eyes popping out of skull like plasticine being squeezed through sieve. In a fateful duel with hero Paul Atreides he spends more time spitting, “I will kill him! I… WILL… KILL… HIM” several hundred times before getting killed himself, much to the relief of anybody still watching.
