10 best drinking video games

Above: Beer makes monkeys even more funny

9. Any Super Monkey Ball game (GC, Xbox, PS2, Wii)

What it is:
Monkeys in clear plastic globes rolling around abstract obstacle courses collecting bananas. Often with awesome mini-games as well.

Why it's perfect:
The levels are seconds long, so lots of players can take turns, and it does well as a competitive or cooperative event. Also, if the main game gets old, the mini-games are both great fun and perfect for betting. Monkey Billiards is our fave, but other safe bets are golf, baseball, bowling, and one in which all the balls have a spring-loaded boxing glove. Each iteration of Monkey Ball has a different selection of mini-games, but you'll always have a few winners.

Where does the booze go?
The way we've actually played it - yes, we've actually done this - each player gets three tries to complete a course before passing the controller to the next person. When you fail, you drink. When you succeed, everyone else drinks.

I was the founding Executive Editor/Editor in Chief here at GR, charged with making sure we published great stories every day without burning down the building or getting sued. Which isn't nearly as easy as you might imagine. I don't work for GR any longer, but I still come here - why wouldn't I? It's awesome. I'm a fairly average person who has nursed an above average love of video games since I first played Pong just over 30 years ago. I entered the games journalism world as a freelancer and have since been on staff at the magazines Next Generation and PSM before coming over to GamesRadar. Outside of gaming, I also love music (especially classic metal and hard rock), my lovely wife, my pet pig Bacon, Japanese monster movies, and my dented, now dearly departed '89 Ranger pickup truck. I pray sincerely. I cheer for the Bears, Bulls, and White Sox. And behind Tyler Nagata, I am probably the GR staffer least likely to get arrested... again.
