360 News from N4G | Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
360 - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Capcom Splits From THQ in Australia In what is definitely an interesting shake-up in the local game distribution scene, Activision Inc. announced today that it has entered into an agreement to become the exclusive distributor of Capcom Co. Ltd. titles in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

The commencement of the agreement coincides with the launch of the highly anticipated Lost Planet: Extreme Condition on the Xbox 360 platform in early 2007. In addition to Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Activision will also be launching the critically acclaimed Okami, and God Hand.

"We are delighted to be working with one of the most admired Japanese video game companies in the world," said John Watts, Senior Vice President, Managing Director, Asia/Pacific Region, "the calibre of Capcom's products is second to none and this new relationship underscores Activision's commitment to bringing some of the world's biggest game franchises to the Australian and New Zealand markets. We are very excited to be working with Capcom and look forward to a long and successful partnership with them in this territory."

IGN contacted THQ's PR and Promotions Coordinator, Drew Taylor for comment on the situation and the reason for the split. He said, "All good relationships eventually come to end. We certainly enjoyed working with them - with [distributing] Dead Rising, for instance. But at the end of the day, these things happen - and they happen quite often in this industry. Capcom are also buying up in UK, so the company is obviously going in a new direction for a while. We wish them the best of luck in the future."

360 - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - New Lost Planet demo on Thanksgiving Gamers who grabbed Gears of War this week might have noticed a promotional insert in the package that mentioned a new downloadable multiplayer demo of Capcom's Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. The publisher finally answered that question today with the announcement that the Lost Planet multiplayer demo would be available to download on November 23, Thanksgiving Day in the US. The demo will allow up to 16 players to play on a single map with multiple weapons, robotic combat suits, and four game types.

The publisher is hoping that the Collector's Edition of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition convinces multiplayer maniacs to pay an extra 10 bucks not only for the requisite bonus goodies, but for exclusive early access to a multiplayer map. The Lost Planet CE will retail for $69.99 (versus the $59.99 standard edition) and hit shelves on January 12.
