LOVEFiLM, Europe's number one online DVD rental service, expects Assassin's Creed to top sales and rentals this holiday season.
"Assassins Creed will definitely be up there; our audience have already heavily pre-ordered this and the sure scale of the experience is very cinematic, so will prove popular amongst film fans," Chris Bird, head of marketing services for LOVEFiLM, told GamesIndustry.biz.
"Kane and Lynch will also do well, as will Call of Duty 4. FIFA 08 and PES will also be 'must buy' for anyone getting a new console over Christmas."

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
SCi's latest interim management statement states that the company remains in talks over a possible buy-out, while outlining its latest quarterly sales results.
For Q1 FY '08 (July 1st to September 30th), SCi unit sales were up 14 per cent compared to the previous quarter, with notable success Pony Friends a highlight.
The statement also revealed first week sales of Kane and Lynch: Dead Men to be positive, which expectations high that the US launch of the title over the Thanksgiving period would yield good results.

Bruce Willis is reportedly in the running to take a lead role in the movie adaptation of Eidos' Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. Peep our review here.
According to Times Online, Billy Bob Thornton is also in the crosshairs and could star alongside the Die Hard actor in the flick.
The Kane & Lynch film is in the hands of movie studio Lionsgate, which is apparently fast-tracking the adaptation.

Pacific Crest Securities' Evan Wilson says new version of Nintendo's portable complete; holiday release torrent creating retail woes.
Wilson notes that not all games will be affected by insufficient retail space. "Clearly, the end-of-year squeeze creates limited space at retail, which limits the size of initial orders of games with less publicity and reorders of games with lower quality." He anticipates games with high preorder rates such as Guitar Hero III, Call of Duty 4, Assassins' Creed, Mass Effect, WWE, and Rock Band to be less affected by insufficient retail space. "Titles that could be at risk of getting squeezed," he continues, "include Haze, Kane & Lynch, and Uncharted."

The Rumour: While Call of Duty 4 is a truly amazing single and multiplayer FPS, it's lacking one thing: co-op play. Well, we've heard that it might not be missing forever.
Verdict: Adding cooperative play to a game post-release isn't unheard of. Rare added co-op to Kameo and with downloadable content being all the rage these days, we wouldn't put it past Infinity Ward to deliver the goods. Don't bank on it though.

Any publication that covers entertainment tends to get a lot of weird promotional stuff in the mail, and GamesRadar is no exception. Today, though, we received what might be the most elaborate promo for a game we've ever seen, coming in the form of two plastic bags filled with ominously sealed evidence envelopes and a letter marked "URGENT PLEASE READ."

Though "Black Friday" isn't until the day after Thanksgiving, November 20 was shaping up to be doomsday for gamers' wallets. The Tuesday will see Rock Band, Mass Effect, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and Time Crisis 4 all hit store shelves the day after the PC Unreal Tournament III goes on sale.
However, today the November 20 herd was thinned by one. British publisher Eidos Interactive has announced that its anticipated crime-action game Kane & Lynch has gone gold and will ship six days early on November 14. The M-for-Mature-rated game will ship simultaneously for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

By now you've probably heard all about Kane & Lynch's intriguing multiplayer mode, 'Fragile Alliance', which puts 8-players in the middle of a bank heist and lets them be as greedy or backstabbing as they fancy.
Lead designer Kim Krogh explained to CVG last week that Io Interactive had to keep the mode under wraps because it's "fairly easy to duplicate", and it was worried that other developers might steal it's ideas. "When we talked about this a couple of years ago it was like 'f**k, why didn't anyone do this before?!'" he said. "It seemed really obvious."

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men isn't even out the Eidos front door yet, but the company has revealed that a sequel is already in production.
It sees major potential in the series too: MCV is reporting that Eidos is pumping more cash into marketing the game than it ever has with any game in the Tomb Raider series.

IGN has learned that Lionsgate is so wildly enthusiastic about Kyle Ward's script for the videogame-to-film adaptation Kane & Lynch that the studio is fast-tracking the project to begin shooting this fall.
They have also heard that several big-name actors are being considered for the title roles, including one A-lister whose identity IGN is not currently at liberty to disclose but who they are told is eager to do the film and likes Ward's script.
