Despite the unenthusiastic and often mediocre reviews and scores given to Haze, according to Develop, the game developers news site, Haze has come in as a new entry at number 12,just under Rock Band, the highest climber. It even beat the mighty Age of Conan which has come in as a new entry at number 13.

Now that's not bad for a game with overall below average mixed reviews. Perhaps this is another indicator of reviewers being out of touch with what gamers in the real world get their kicks from.

Wilson notes that not all games will be affected by insufficient retail space. Haze-related news, rumor and speculation have been doing the Internet-rounds over the weekend regarding the fact that the game is a PS3-exclusive. You may recall Spong's coverage of Sony exclusives as mentioned at E3 in which Haze was pegged as PS3-only at least until the end of the year.

This - plus comments made a Leipzig, plus the fact that all mention of any other platforms has been removed from Free Radical's Haze web-pages - has apparently lead to the conclusion that the game will be PS3 exclusive.

So, Spong spoke to a representative at Ubisoft who spoke slowly and clearly to Spong, explaining, "Basically at E3 it was announced that the game would be PS3 exclusive for Christmas. That's where we stand - other platforms have not been ruled out but nothing has been confirmed."

Therefore, right now Haze is exclusive until Christmas... and then might or might not be.

Free Radical has released new info on the way that the players can kill their enemies...

1. Nectar Grenade: By ripping the Nectar pack off the back of a dead soldier, you can strap it onto a grenade. When it goes off, the cloud of yellow gas will make any Mantel trooper in the vicinity overdose.

2. Nectar Knife: When you make a Nectar Grenade, you can smear the stuff on the blade of your knife. So, if you melee or throw it at someone, they'll overdose.

3. Nectar Pack Shot: The round yellow disc on the back on each Mantel trooper is his Nectar Pack. It's tricky, but if you can get a clear shot or melee it, you'll make it malfunction and pump too much Nectar into the poor bad guy's bloodstream ¿ another overdose situation.

Whilst games frequently pin their appeal on either the story or the gameplay, it's pretty rare for something to come along that does both. Haze, the new first person shooter from Free Radical Design, is due out on PS3 at the end of this year and looks like it might just do it.
