Wrath of the Lich King - first screens

After rumors and speculation regarding Blizzard's undercover filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office and the mysterious Q&A  leaked about a new expansion, Blizzard has officially announced their latest project, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.

The expansion will introduce players to the chilly continent of Northrend, where the Lich King Arthus will most likely be plotting devilishly fiendish ways to rob us of our every waking moment with incredibly challenging raid instances that host a delicious assortment of tempting new gear and fabulous loot drops.

Besides the expected assortment of new dungeons and monsters that will accompany the Northrend continent, Wrath of the Lich King will introduce a new level cap of 80, the Inscription profession – which will allow players to "augment" spells - and PvP battles that utilize siege engines and destructible buildings.

But we're most interested in the mysterious new "hero" class, the Death Knight. According to the Q&A mentioned above, this hero class will be available to both the Alliance and Horde once certain conditions have been met. Once these conditions are met, players will be able to create a new Death Knight character which will start out at a higher level than usual, and will feature a mix of DPS and tanking abilities.
We're dying to know more about how the new Inscription profession will work, and what kind of new skills players can look forward to as they rise past level 70. In the meantime, check out our recently posted Wrath of the Lich King preview that delves deeper into the details on Blizzard's next WoW expansion.
