Valkyria Chronicles III anime announced, demo launches on Japan PSN today

Sega has recently announced a new two-episode OVA based on Valkyria Chronicles III. Titled ‘Senjo no Valkyria 3: Dare ga Tame no Juyu,’ the anime is scheduled to release in spring of 2011. Valkyria Chronicles III is scheduled to release for the PSP on January 27, 2011 in Japan – and the demo has just released on the Japan PlayStation Network today.

Though it’s expected, there has been no official confirmation that the third installment in the series will be localized for western audiences. Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, assistant community manager of Sega America Aaron Webber, explained that the decision will depend on how well Valkyria Chronicles II sells.

“VCII’s success or failure will probably play a big part in that decision, so we’ll see how the game is doing soon. The launch week was good, but the weeks after are also still important,” saidWebber. “Hopefully the DLC will also boost support a bit and get the game back on people’s radars – every copy and DLC bundle helps!”

Webber also responded to fans of the series who were disappointed to see Valkyria Chronicles II for the PSP. “I’m among the many who would personally love to see this series return to the PS3 someday. But if you pass up VCII solely because of platform, you truly are missing out. Give it a chance, read some of the many reviews, or even just ask others here: it’s well worth it,” said Webster. “VCII is a PSP-exclusive, but the Japanese dev team has stated thatsomeday they would like to consider bringing it back to PS3 again.”

Just hope the OVA is better than the Valkyria Chronicles anime

I guess launching the game on the PSP means less financial risk while still retaining good upside for the developers. I love VC and I hope they keep bringing them stateside and if that means PSP only I'll take what I can get. I wish other Tactical RPG's would follow in their footsteps. Imagine the Fire Emblem series with this kind of overhaul. That would be awesome.

I'm not really complaining since I own a psp and I love it when awesome games come out on it, but why do they keep making potential blockbusters on the psp? I could understand one, but then making another for the psp instead of the ps3? It just seems like the ps3 would make them more money. Ex: Dissidia Duodecim- It's probably gonna rock, but they already did a psp dissidia, so why not have the sequel for ps3?

I loved this series, it was the only other game I played after I got uncharted... Most of the time otherwise my ps3 sits in disuse.... crossing my fingers hoping that VCIII will come on a worthwhile system (not the psp)
