Unemployed developer Cliffy B receives mystery package/possible job offer from... Ubisoft?

Erstwhile Epic Games man in hotel phone drama

Currently unemployed Gears of War game developer Cliff Bleszinski has received a package containing a phone apparently sent from Ubisoft. While enjoying his ongoing break from the industry, the former Epic Games design director tweeted ‘Hotel called my room. A package for me? Inside? A fully charged phone with one # programmed and the Ubisoft logo on the backdrop. Now what?’ Obviously, pics or didn’t happen, so...

Cliffy later said he would call the number and tell them: ‘I do have a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me an asset for people like you.’

Cliffy B left his job as design director at Epic Games at the start of October, saying it was time for “a much needed break”.

Could this be a job offer from Ubisoft? Could Cliffy B be coming back to games? Was the package even delivered to the right room? Perhaps it’s all part of some completely pointless hoax?

I wonder if he could have just made this up and made the phone look like that himself. That would be pretty ballsy and improbable though.

Why do you hate Cliffy B? He's a bro and makes good games, and is even a little bit cocky at times (though it's usually, no, almost always played for humor...) All of that sounds like a winning combination to me m8.

There are plenty of reasons to dislike CliffyB as a PC Gamer. He has repeatedly shat on PC Gamers. Everything from shoddy console ports to outright calling them all pirates. Even though piracy is pretty big on consoles. The guy is a Grade A piece of trash. Lastly, Epic hasn't made a "Good" Game since Unreal Tournament 2004. Instead they moved onto shitty console third person "dudebro" shooters.

Have you even played Gears or Bulletstorm? Gears is a 'Dudebro" shooter because it promotes teamwork, anyone who has played co-op can tell you that the game gets marginably easier and more enjoyable once Dom is another player. And anyway, Gears barely ever made Delta squad look undefeatable. Theyre always losing a teammate, or getting separated, avoiding the enemy. Hell half the damned team died in Gears 3! I dont know what the fuck you've been playing, but it DEFINITELY wasnt Gears of War...

I would enjoy seeing what Ubisoft and Cliff could come up with. I wouldnt want him to tamper with series' like Assassin's creed or Splinter Cell, but I could see him doing a damn fine job with a new Rainbow Six title, those have lost alot of steam and fame lately and he could be just what it needs. Hell with the sick ass writing capabilities of Ubisoft and Cliff's spectacular visuals, theres a whole world of opportunities there.
