Uncharted 3 desert village gameplay footage makes us thirsty

A week ago we got one of our last looks at Uncharted 3 before the game launches on November 1. In our preview we described Nathan Drake stumbling upon a seemingly empty desert town, then finding it occupied with henchmen out for his blood. Obviously Drake made short work of all of them, but already you knew that because you no doubt read our preview. Now Sony has released a video of that stage’s start, so you can enjoy it all for yourselves right now…

Our favorite bit about this footage is how it showcases the Uncharted franchise’s ability to change things up at a moments notice. You thought you could just safely jump on that roof without it caving in? You think you’ll find drinkable water at the bottom of that well? You thought just because they made this creepy, deserted city you won’t stumble upon a bunch of thugs when you least suspect it? Also, whoever is playing this game knows their stuff. We hope we can look at least half as cool as that when we play the stage.

Looks amaaaazing. But also even more 'predetermined' than the previous 2 in the series. Always got the feeling (as with CoD) that the game doesn't really care if I'm there or not, it'll happily play out it's scripted events regardless; not a game so much as an interactive movie. Still a lot of fun though!

I got about 10 seconds into the ad and decided not to watch it - I don't want to spoil anything at all this year. Uncharted 1 was full of surprises as I bought it on a whim. Uncharted 2 I knew a lot about but was still blown away. I figure the less I know about the single player in Uncharted 3 the more amazed I'll be.

Wow. Jimmy Fallon really worked on his gaming skills since the last time he played this.

is it just me or do the animations and character models look WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better in the single player than they do in the multiplayer? The way Drake moves is so smooth and quick. I will be getting the game for the single player anyway, but this looks freaking amazing!

The fact that Naughty Dog got sand to look THAT real using a 5 year old machine is nothing short of incredible. It shows how great naughty dog is as a studio, and also how much of a beast the PS3 is

He says he needs water, but it looks like he's already pretty hyped up on something.

Despite my sky-high expectations, these gameplay videos keep raising the bar... spectacular.

Looks real nice, destructible enviornments! although the walking animation gets a little buggy on complex floors with rubble and what not. I also wish they didn't make a sprint button, but I'm not sure if thats in the singleplayer as well. My favorite addition is the new fighting animations, and "executions." the bit where he tossed the guy the gun then punched his lights out was the perfect Nathan Drake silly.

NiceI dig the details like that crumbling pillar and the throwing back of grenades.
