UK Chart: Black Ops 2 recaptures No.1 spot

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 reclaimed the No.1 spot on the UK all formats chart during the week ended January 26.

It’s the first time Activision’s shooter has topped the chart since a six week unbroken spell late last year from its November release through to the title being crowned Christmas No.1.

FIFA 13 held second place ahead of Far Cry 3, while last week’s best-seller DmC Devil May Cry slipped to No.4 and Assassin’s Creed III jumped five positions to No.5 following retailer price promotions. The Sims 3 70s, 80s, & 90s Stuff was the only new entry in the top 40, debuting at No.36.

It's an excellent game, don't be fooled by those who say "It's for the mass market, it can't be good!". In it's genre, it's the best at what it does, and for what it's worth you get more change from game to game than you do in yearly sports game updates (not that I'm not a fan of sports games myself).

Sorry, mate, but I still think it's a massive pile of regugitated shite. My cousin persuaded me to play it with grandstanding phrases like - "It's the best game ever! Way better than the last Call Of Duty which I called the best game ever at the time. And it's even better that the Call Of Duty before that one, which I called the best game ever then." and "It's way, way, way different than the other games. I know I say that about every Call Of Duty but I promise this one is different." So, I tried it. And pundits are right - video games do cause violence. Forty minutes into the game I was smacking the game case across his face. I can't believe there exists a mainstream game with such casual xenophobia and fetishisation of war and death. Would it kill them to actually put their tongues in cheek?

Ah, man; it's bad enough this crap not only manages to get the top spot in the first place, let alone holds it for six weeks, but ow it's actually managing to REGAIN the top spot? My faith in gamer-kind is slowly slipping away.
