EA has already revealed "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey as one of the UFC 2 cover stars, but who's going to stand next to her and beckon to gamers' wallets? Turns out that even EA doesn't know yet, because it’s waiting to see who wins the featherweight championship at UFC 194. The fight, between champion Jose Aldo and contender Conor McGregor, will go down on December 12 in Las Vegas.
The UFC series of fighting games began in 2000, with Ultimate Fighting Championship for the Sega Dreamcast. The series eventually came under THQ's stewardship, and after that company dissolved, it moved again to EA. UFC 2, as the name might suggest, is the second game produced under the EA Sports label. It's slated for a spring 2016 release date on Xbox One and PS4.
Maybe this plan of action is for the best, considering that EA's announcement of Rousey as one of the cover stars came just a day before she lost her championship title to Holly Holm, proving once again the power of "the Madden curse." This way the fighters can actually focus on punching each other, like civilized human beings.
