No Nicole from Broken Sword? Or David N'gog from FIFA12? Who compiles these lists? Shameful.

John Marston is like a prerequisite for these types of things. And Garrus is probably the best thing to happen to games in recent years. He's just such a great guy. Morrigan from Dragon Age: Origins had me pretty invested in her character from start to finish. When she was all like "I'm leaving after we kill the dragon tomorrow" I honestly couldn't believe it. I think the thing that makes characters great and memorable is consistency and sincerity. You can give people almost any kind of back story to work with and as long as they have those to things, you're going to get something great. Don't get me wrong characters still develop over time(Again, just look at Morrigan from Dragon Age: Origins) but they'll still retain who they are on the inside. That's why I find them so enjoyable.

    Morrigan... Oh hell YES.

No Francis York Morgan or Emily Wyatt? No Monkey and Trip? Fail list! (really though, a good read)

Alyx Vance and Tali. I honestly felt genuine emotional attachment to Tali. With Alyx it felt like she was Gordon's woman, but Tali, Tali loved Jim Shepard. And I was Jim Shepard. And I loved her.

Nice list! - As a heavy Sims player (not that I'm heavy, just I'm really into the Sims had to clarify) I agree with falling in love with the Sims or at least getting attached to them. I personally would have chosen Saria over Malon but that is just me.

Garrus can be the Mass in my Effe- Sorry.

Solid Snake is my videogame man crush. I shed a tear in the closing moments of MGS4. Snake is my friend and i actually care about him. Nathan Drake is another. You never realise how much you miss him until the next Uncharted is released then you think i Love you Drake. Also my character in Fallout 3. I was with him at birth. All the way through his journey and now he just roams the wasteland. Oh and Sackboy for being too cute.

The fact that the list starts with Marsten and ends with Garrus made it great. I agree with a few of the entries in between, but still...

"Cut to a few months later and we were married," I assume you mean a few seconds later? I tend to rush things along, get married the day they meet, get pregnant, kill of the father, and find solace in your butler? Maybe it's just me... o.O I also just started playing ME2, i have a thing for Garrus already. Yup. Anyways, I got really attached to My Revan in KOTOR, and then my Exile in KOTORII, I can't help it, they're just so damn perfect. n.n

Well, I was never really attached to solid Snake. Every else sure- Naked Snake I thought was great, I empathise with Otacon, and there's a special place in my heart for Raiden- hell, I even like Ocelot. But Solid? Meh. Garrus definitely deserved his spot, though. I love the hell out of that guy. When I heard that Garrus wasn't actually a gay romance in ME3, it pretty much put me off playing. All the other stuff I'd heard I could live with, as long as I could romance Garrus. But no. F*ck you, Bioware. In terms of people I think should've been on the list, the only person I can really think of is Baird from gears. I know a load of people hate him, But I've always had a soft spot for him. He's clever, cynical, snarky, and kind of a baby, but he's an engineer, not a soldier. He wants to be there even less than everyone else does, and I feel like I can kinda empathise with him on that; I'd be a whiny bitch if I was in his situation too.

...I find it kind of weird you like Baird, bot don't care much about Solid Snake... Who's also clever, cynical, snarky, but unlike Baird he's actually a soldier and he mans up, even though he gets a lot of shit thrown at him. different strokes for different people of course. But I just find it curious that you liked naked snake, but NOT Solid Snake... Which really, when I was playing MGSIII I felt like he was pretty much Solid Snake just in a different era and with a different background.
  • jackthemenace - April 16, 2012 1:03 p.m.

It's probably because I've sill never played the first MGS. The first game in the series I played was #2, and even then I managed to skip the Tanker chapter, and start straight away as Raiden, which is why I've always preferred him to Solid. Don't get me wrong, I do like Solid, but I played as Naked Snake before I played as Old Snake, and never played as 'Solid' until a couple months ago when I got the HD collection, so I feel more that the Solid/Naked snake carbon copy thing's the other way around- even though i know Solid was made before :P
