A terrific, tongue and cheek look at old-school role-playing—as in tabletop Dungeons & Dragons-style gaming—with plenty of wit and humor, Knights of Pen & Paper tasks you with being both the players and the dungeon master in a world full of incredible layers of customization of both the game world elements and the room where they actually play.
Since everything affects the game world in some way, whether it’s expensive new armor or a new table, there’s great fun in just experimenting. Granted, there’s a lot of grinding to earn enough gold to buy things, but the retro graphics, great sense of humor make it worthwhile. Knights isn’t without blemishes though. Certain elements (such as real-time blacksmithing) feel out of place, and the developer needs to utilize grammar and spell checkers a bit more. Either way, it’s retro fun for RPG fans.
