Tomb Raider Trilogy gets dated, priced and stamped as PS3 exclusive

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics confirmed today that their HD remastered Tomb Raider Trilogy will be released as a PS3 exclusive, and that it will be heading to US shelves on March 22nd with a UK release to follow a few short days later.

As previously reported, the pack will house HD remastered versions of Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Legend, as well as a copy of the trilogy topper Tomb Raider Underworld. Square Enix has also confirmed through the US PlayStation Blog that the bundle will ship with new content made specifically for the pack including an Underworld Lara Croft and Viking Thrall Avatars (shown below), a Tomb Raider theme pack and behind-the-scenes videos.

Confirming the PS3 exclusivity in a press release, Crystal Dynamics' head Darrell Gallagher said, "We're really excited to be able to offer gamers the chance to play both Legend and Anniversary remastered in high definition on the PlayStation 3...These are two titles we are extremely proud to have created."

The compilation will sell for $39.99 USD – or $39.99 plus the price of a PS3 for die-hard 360 fans.

Interesting to see how this will be remastered... it would be a good addition to trophy sets as well...

Unfortunately, it seems that much of Sony's 2011 line up consists of compilations of games I already have :(

since they are doing remastered ps2 game sequels in a collection, such as gow, sly raccoon, prince of persia and now tomb raider, i really hope they make a devil may cry trilogy as the 1st and 3rd one were awesome, unfortunately to this day never got a chance to play the 2nd as it was near impossible to grab a copy, but i heard it was terrible, anyway dmc was amazing till 4 came along and spoild it.

I was never really interested in Tomb Raider, but if the summer drought hits me, I might pick it up.

I've never played these before, so I may have to pick this up. once I get a ps3, that is.

I liked all three, especially Anniversary, but I don't think I'll be getting them again, even for trophies.

You can get them all in hd on the 360 already, so its not really an exclusive. Unless they have remastered the ps2 versions but thatd just be stupid.

I'm curious as to what remastering they're going to be doing since Legend and Anniversary were already available in HD, just not on PS3.

I guess 40 bucks is a fair price, but weren't these games already in HD?
