This new Nintendogs 3DS commercial really tugs the heartstrings

In a bold new marketing move, Nintendo’s coaxing gamers into buying Nintendog’s with unflinchingly harsh imagery of in-game animal cruelty. For a one time donation of $40, you can absolve yourself and millions of others of the barbaric acts of canine abuse by rearing a digital puppy of your own. Oh, and cats come free!

C’mon, do we even need to say this is A PARODY?! Okay… maybe to our European readers. Click here to see the original Sarah Mclachlan-infused ASPCA video that’s been running mercilessly on US TV two years. I’m sure the provided context will make our video above hilarious in hindsight.

I don't think so. Those in-game dogs I killed were trained to kill people like my character, so I had no choice to snap their necks as they tried to rip into my throat.

Yay for the Mega Man Legends nod. Gotta love the random ability to kick dogs in an otherwise very lighthearted game.

You have to be heartless to kill the dog in Dragon Age: Origins... he becomes your ally if you save him!!!!!

All this and no Pokemon dogs? I thought Pokemon was the prime animal cruelty source.

I laughed at almost the whole thing... until the part with Ghost Trick came up. POOR MISSILE WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. He's the man. Why would THEY USE THAT??? Telling you, Missile is just the undeniable badass of dogs. What other dog can say they've came back from the dead numerous times and saved the lives of like 10 people? That's just how much of a bamf he is.

  • Crypto140 - March 26, 2011 4:23 p.m.

You know, most of those dogs were abusing humans. So.... what do I do to stop human abuse?
  • Denvil - March 26, 2011 3:48 p.m.

@SanosukeEiji I think that's Ghost Trick for the DS...

O.K., THAT was just wrong. Second, where were the Resident Evil zombie dogs? Third, how can I sign up to save all the fake chickens of the world?
  • AlphaAGENT144 - March 26, 2011 12:45 p.m.

  • philipshaw - March 26, 2011 12:35 p.m.

  • paganpoet - March 26, 2011 8 a.m.

I cannot begin to tell you how hilarious this is. Is this really a legit Nintendo ad?
  • 510BrotherPanda - March 26, 2011 7:21 a.m.

@RonnyLive19881 DON'T PUT GOOFY OR CLARABELLE DOWN IN A CHRIS ANTISTA ARTICLE, YOU!!! Man, I feel bad every time that "kicking Copper the Hound Dog" SFX gets played... Please stop the senseless violence!
