You know what I think will happen -- and it could actually happen: Nintendo is so FAR ahead of the gaming industry that they have already realized their mistake in releasing a motion-control console. So NOW, while Sony and Microsoft are about to fuck up with new motion-control consoles, Nintendo will release a new classic-style gaming, and they will, once again, be on top. Interesting theory I had while reading, but it came so easily to my brain I was surprised I did not read it anywhere in the article. Maybe this article is too serious to say it, or too smart (since that probably won't happen).

Yea but in this current console generation 360 is the most fun and actually makes games. Sony doesent have an ass to poop out games and the Wii only makes Mini games. Microsoft is probably the most corporate ass holes of all time, but at least they are doing someting.

"Microsoft and Sony might not admit that they saw Nintendo’s success, decided they wanted a piece of the pie, and then immediately began developing their own motion control systems, but that’s exactly what happened." As much as I'd love that to be true, isn't that a blatant falsehood? Disregarding the ball wand, hadn't Sony been working on motion control for many, many years prior to the Sixaxis? And wasn't the Sixaxis technically released before the Wiimote? And, wait a second, Microsoft had so little to talk about they actually ANNOUNCED being able to use two whole web pages? Maybe that would have been neat in 1996. Wow, lame. Twitter and Facebook are already mere fragments of that old ass, much more convenient application called AIM, but whatever. People have been walking around with web browsers in their pockets for years. For the past 4 or so years Microsoft has really set a precedent in the gaming industry. That company alone is really bringing the industry closer to the shady levels the film and music industries are at. Their whole purpose of making a console should have turned gamers off, but the fact that Microsoft doesn't just dominate most of our PCs wasn't enough. Vista, Red ring of death, the people must not be able to wait to see what atrocity they'll produce next. Better get to funding them and reserve another copy of Halo!

One thing I wanted to ad to this article... E3 is meant to grab the mainstream's attention above all else. It's the perfect time to go "look! shiny new things!" and the media will report on it. Every year I look in USA Today to see what its E3 coverage is, ie what all the bluster of E3 amounted to. In this case, it was an article about Nintendo's Vitality Sensor and Wii Fit Plus. Seriously. Three massive press conferences and all games got was a small article on page 7D about Wii. Which is doubly sad, because this was a great E3. Lots of fantastic stuff was shown, but once again the mainstream giggles and moves on. Listen to TalkRadar 54 for more examples.

@Samael Yay, they did! I wonder if it was because we complained so much about the old one?
  • GamesRadarJoeMcNeilly - June 11, 2009 10:39 p.m.

    Boogers on a good day...
  • Jacob816 - June 11, 2009 9:07 p.m.

I like what Scott Butterworth said on one of the E3 podcasts, that technically the PS3 always had a built in Twitter and Facebook since it had a built in browser. Still, the functionality of those two features is rather limited considering that the controller is used for input instead of a mouse and keyboard.

salar to all of u( especially the wankers who use all the space to leave a comment)
  • Seabread - June 15, 2009 12:31 p.m.

I used to use my PS3 for web browsing when my pc was broken - shame it doesnt support adobe flash seeing as VIRTUALLY EVERY WEB SITE USES IT, rendering the ability to browse moot! At least M$ didn't spend most of it's time talking about figures and stuff people dont care about, unlike Sony who, in addition to showing a lots of lovely coloured charts and sales figures (does ANYONE care?) devoted most of its time to bigging up the PSP! again, does anyone care? it's as if they're admitting defeat in the home-console market. Sony are comitted to a 10 year life/value span? well the ps3 has been out for 3 years already and hasnt started to be value for money yet. no 'killer/must-have' games out (imo). 360 is by far the better gaming console, even if i do have to pay £40 a year to play with friends online, at least i know people with a 360.

@MechGyver: You hate EA?!? Brutal Legend!Oh wait never mind because ACTIVISION IS BEING AN ASSHOLE!!
  • geo242 - June 14, 2009 11:38 a.m.

I've been using Facebook on the Wii with the otherwise crappy Opera browswer for over a year now. As long as you have a keyboard it works fine.
  • MechGyver - June 13, 2009 11:52 p.m.

I HATE EA!!!...............and so does everybody else(but keep it quiet ok)
  • TheWebSwinger - June 13, 2009 5:36 a.m.

nik41507, don't you think that maybe living in LA your whole life actually disqualifies you from critiquing the air and traffic quality relative to other cities and states? :P And thanks Howetzer.
  • TURbo - June 12, 2009 8 p.m.

Exclusive deals are lame, they should sell as much as possible on all systems.
  • crumbdunky - June 12, 2009 7:26 p.m.

Exclusives aren't silly are they. Nintendos first party games are the best on their system and the same goes for Sony and to an extent MS as well.If MS allowed Epic,I know technically a third party but the three game IP is published by MS so it's as exclusiove as anything)the kind of time Sony allows devs then we'd maybe see the 360 pushed as hard as PS3 and making games just as good looking etc. Exclusives should be a showcase for the console they're on-showing all of what's possible and Sony do this best. Maybe it's because MS don't have as many in house devs/studios and want more market share that the games are more rushed out than elsewhere but, still, it would be nice if the next Gears/Halo looked more like the Epic bullshots than just a little better than the prevuios outing, wouldn't it? AC2 was shown by Sony because of the connectivity with PSP and /Sony wanted to show this still happenung-likewise Ubi so no money will have changed hands will it. On the whole, though, E3 is a press jumket which just wastes cash and doesn't even seem to impress the media anyway. Scrap the whole bloody thing and spare us the lead up months of leaks and guesses and the three week hang over dissecting who "won" something you cannot win.
  • thor0997 - June 12, 2009 5:14 p.m.

@howetzer Its true that PS3 has gotten good games THIS year, but I was talking about throughout this generation. PS3 has ramped up this year, but before it was rather lacking. I see that he mentioned a game that isnt even out yet. Recaptcha: Bowery Painful
  • Howetzer - June 12, 2009 3:57 p.m.

First off, I want to say this is an awesome article. One of the best I've read here. Way to go guys. @Sabtos, the more I read of your posts, the more I realize that at least you see whats going on, also "lol" to your excellent satire. @McSpermie , same as above. You guys get it. I'm glad more people are coming to see what the hell is going on and hopefully more people will start to care. @thor0997 - way to show off your extreme knowledge of things.(That's called sarcasm - look it up.) MGS4SolidSnake had good points so I didn't even have to address your ingenious post. All in all, a good day.
  • GamesRadarTylerWilde - June 12, 2009 7:53 a.m.

"motion control is not the future of gaming its the future of making money with a console" @PinkLenny they have embraced it as the future of gaming, but that doesn't mean it is - they'll soon unembrace it. :)
  • McSpermie - June 12, 2009 5:41 a.m.

gaming dying, really quick. It's turning into all about money and soon they will be no good games left, the only games allowed to be made are the ones that will sell to the public, and hold their attention for about 5 minutes before they go buy another one. I can't really accept that right now but it's inevitable... Thanks Nintendo, you ruined gaming. Hope the money was worth it.
