The Shield

Minigame-style tasks abound, from melting unwilling perps' faces over a hot oven to coerce them to spill critical information, or stealing (ahem, collecting) "evidence" from crime scenes to yield all sorts of contraband. Vic can choose one of two things to do with his bounty: drop it off at the police evidence booth (which is a nifty way to reduce Heat) or stash it in his own personal "retirement fund". Don't plan on hopping in a car and scooting around L.A. sandbox-style, though, as driving and open-world exploration isn't on the docket.

To this point, the visuals are looking about what you would expect from what was originally a mid-generation PS2 game; nothing spectacular, but certainly not offending your eye sockets. Each of the cast members lent their vocals stylings to the game, dropping an extra dash of authenticity into the recipe. We've been promised multiple endings based on key choices, which makes us happy (and should allow for at least a couple of play-throughs).

Full of cussing, shooting, lawbreaking, and even a little nudity (hubba hubba), The Shield is set to ship in time for this holiday season. We'll let you know what we think when it hits store shelves.
