TalkRadar UK Episode 90

Listen now...

Pssst. Hey, how are you doing? Yeah, you. We hear you're looking for a gaming podcast. Well <looks left and right> we've got one here and it's a bloody beauty. One of a kind style shit. Interested? Why are we acting so secretive? Erm, no idea. But our mysterious stance has built up a swell of intrigue inside you that will only be quenched once you've listened to TalkRadar UK.

And what have we got for you in this week's show? Well, apart from the usual heee-larious segues into nonsense we have a discussion on how DiRT3 has left us feeling slightly deflated (geddit? Cars have tyres and when they're not at full pressure they're... ah, forget it) and there's an update on Cundy's Pokemon Black obsession. There's the Appreciation Section in which Justin gets teary-eyed about an excellent Disney game, we've got your somewhat depressing replies to Question of the Week - which game character do you relate to most and why? - and we rattle through your texts to the GamesRadar Hotline.

All this and our views on the Modern Warfare 3 launch trailer and stay tuned for an embarrassing story from Matt's past as he confesses about how he upset a group of Trekkies. Let's just keep this amaze-o-cast between us, 'kay?

Above: Cundy can't actually make out the image but it's a statue of him from Minecraft. Splendid

Above: If Matt could get past the first few levels of Portal he'd actually understand this joke. He doesn't

Above: Justin *is* working on an iPhone game called Cheese Dreams, and we think this'd be a great cover

  • Matt Cundy - May 27, 2011 8:33 a.m.

@thlgamesradar For the hotline? You just need to add 44 for the UK before dialing.
  • ColinKapow - May 26, 2011 5:32 p.m.

I'm having the same trouble with OCD in LA Noire of finding everything and getting the interogations 100% right. Quiting back out and re-entering is very time consuming.....
  • scaler2000 - May 26, 2011 4:36 p.m.

yo guys what prefix do i put so i can send a message not from the UK? im from Malta if that helps
  • thlgamesradar - May 26, 2011 1:46 p.m.

Ha, the cheesy racer talk in Dirt 2 was a bone of contention for a LOT of people, so Codies removed it. Damned if they do, damned if they don't!
  • GamesRadar_NathanIrvine - May 26, 2011 1:22 p.m.

@garnsr Absolutely. I have a particular fondness for Stephen Merchant due to the Ricky Gervais podcasts that I regularly listen to, but I think others could've done a great job with those lines. I must say, the novelty of having a West Country (UK) accent does make it slightly better as it's not often heard in games. Who would be your ideal person for the job?
  • philipshaw - May 26, 2011 12:10 p.m.

Awesome show guys, I just roll with my L.A Noire game even if I get questions wrong
  • garnsr - May 25, 2011 10:11 p.m.

Would you guys like Wheatley as much if he were voiced by, say, Tom Hanks (back when he did comedies?) Do you think the British accent makes you like him more? I like Stephen Merchant's performance, but I think there are other actors who would have done as well, maybe a bit different, but I think the lines are better than just his performance.

For any of you who are stuck on L.A noir because you have OCD like Nathan if you fail an interrogation scene and want to try it again without having to do the entire case again, when the X appears next to question just press the ps/xbox button and quit the game. When you reenter the game and resume you should start right near the interrogation without hsving to restart the case. Also if the interrogation is at the end of a lengthy crime scene such as the rays cafe mission If you complete all of the clues and wait around for a while the game will eventually automatically save and you can resume from that point. Hope that helps anyone getting annoyed by the inttarogation sequences
  • 510BrotherPanda - May 25, 2011 7:19 p.m.

I hope Matt enjoys Okamiden; Elston said it was kind of 'meh', but I really liked it.
  • IIBrownieII - May 25, 2011 5:32 p.m.

@Nathan ShAmMiX is right dude, had the same ocd on a few cases i knew i messed up on pressing the wrong button or whatnot... it saves before and after each interrogation i think... I couldnt imagine doing the case from the start everytime man thats just mental. Also Great 'cast... I remember Cundys star trek email from ages ago but hearing it again had me in stitches... that dude more then likely did throw himself into the thames tho man lol
  • Clovin64 - May 25, 2011 5:20 p.m.

Any more disturbing tangents about frothy jacuzzi shit, like last week? If so, count me in!
  • Mooshon - May 25, 2011 1:36 p.m.

    Toughie. I'll have a think.
  • GamesRadar_NathanIrvine - May 25, 2011 1:09 p.m.

@ShAmMiX Sorted! I'm slowly weaning myself off the need to keep restarting cases but this advice is sound. Cheers.
  • ShAmMiX - May 25, 2011 11:24 a.m.

this is a message for nathan i had the same gaming ocd problem with interrogation in l.a. noire, but if you go to the menu and quit instead of restart and then you go back into the game pretty much just before the interrogation hope this helps you to enjoy the game better.
  • chrisat928 - May 25, 2011 10:16 a.m.
