Sonic 4: Episode I delayed for all platforms because of the iPhone version

Need another reason to hate the iPhone? Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode was originally scheduled to release during this summer. Now, it’s expected to release in late 2010. It turns out that the downloadable title was delayed for Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network, and WiiWare due to complications with the controls for the iPhone version.

Speaking to CVG, Sonic Team project lead Takashi Iizuka explained why we won’t be seeing Sonic 4 released until later this year. “Originally, the game was supposed to come out in summer this year. While it wasn’t really apparent at the time, we announced this as a PSN, XBLA and WiiWare title, but at the same time the iPhone version of Sonic 4 was also in development,” says Iizuka.

“The team wanted the game to work really well on the iPhone with the same stages and the same kind of mechanics as the console versions, but it didn’t really work the way the team imagined. What they did was they kept the iPhone version closer to the original and they went back to the console version and changed some stages to be better playable on console. That’s the reason behind the delay and the extension in the development scheduled,” explains Iizuka.

Well that sucks! Fuck Halo Reach! This has been my most anticipated release of 2010, and now it's delayed because of apple and their pointless gadget? Ahhh well, I can't wait a bit longer...

What's going to be included in the iPhone version? I think I'm going to be waiting until I'm able get the bundle of all the "episodes" anyways, if that happens.

What pisses me off about this is that the iphone version will still get the additional stuff that the PSN, Live, and wiiware versions won't have, what the F-ing hell sega.
  • bmrskate - September 14, 2010 2:59 a.m.

Ok...who in the hell would ever play Sonic on an iPhone? I can't tell who is on more potent crack, Sega or Apple. Thank you Sega for bringing back the original Sonic, but fuck you Apple for screwing it up for us. Apple can suck a big bag of dicks until 4 comes out. There...I feel vented...

So which sucks more now? Sonic or iPhone? Trololol

I don't see a problem. Atleast it is delayed so they can take the time to fix what's wrong. Of course, since it's Sonic Team/Sega, it being delayed could also mean they will add some gimmick.

BASTARDSSSSS! Dammit Sega, I wanted to play this before Thanksgiving. -_-

  • John_Romero - September 13, 2010 11:23 p.m.

Way to go Sega. Way to push back most of the people who wanted to play this game, so that people who don't care can buy it on a cell phone.
