SimCity out March 5 in N. America, March 8 in Europe

SimCity, the reboot of the city-building game that kicked off the Sim craze, has a new release date of March 5, 2013 in North America and March 8 in Europe. The new dates announced on the game's Twitter today fall not too far after the original February 2013 goal.

The PC game, which continues the draw-and-stamp design of the classic original SimCity and SimCity 2000, also further emphasizes individual citizens instead of just the buildings they live in--kind of like that SimsVille game that got cancelled forever ago. It will be the first new main entry in Maxis' former flagship series since 2003's SimCity 4.

This game looks great, but I worry about Electronic Art's vice grip on the franchise. Surely it will be Origin only, and include wonderful always online DRM.

If those damn UFO's come in my city, I will activate the XCOM project!
