"Just a single button for combat?" may have been many people's reaction when developer Lionhead announced that, yes, just a single button press would perform all Fable 2's hand-to-hand maneovers. Ignore the doom-mongers, though. By the looks of this footage it was a decision worth taking.

The gameplay footage contained in this short studio feature certainly isn't finished. But it's complete enough to show off some neat moves triggered by the context-sensitive combat system - an 'over the head' backwards parry, a 'head meets wall' surprise move, and plenty of runnings-through.

We look forward to buckling our swash with Fable's sword-swinging characters (or even popping some percussion-caps with the pistol-wielding highwaymen) with muchos excitement.
