    so awesome

Ok, this has probably been confirmed elsewhere, but I'm too lazy to look. Has megaman been confirmed for the 3DS version? Please say it is so! Anyway, definitely cool to see more of the games, also hoping that the 3DS version will get a proper amount of content to keep us playing outside of the multiplayer.

Never mind, just saw in Capcom Unity a screenshot of Megaman in the 3DS version. Concern averted!
  • shawksta - June 12, 2013 12:37 a.m.

Sakurai said there will be the same AMOUNT of characters. While im literally nitpicking he didnt say the same exact characters but i highly doubt there will be a split. But it IS interesting the stages are split so it wouldnt be a bad idea. Though big major characters like Megaman and Villager (especially because Animal crossing New Leaf is on 3DS after all) will %100 carry to both versions.
  • BladedFalcon - June 12, 2013 12:56 a.m.

Well, somehow I don't see the wii fit lady making it into the 3DS version :P By contrast, that could mean an extra fire emblem character, if so, BY ALL MEANS!
  • shawksta - June 12, 2013 1:07 a.m.

Well considering there's a Fire Emblem Awakening stage on the 3DS version, especially being a certain girl's area who i cant remember for some damn reason, it might actually happen.

i could totally see lucina in the game if that's who you're talking about if not i'd guess lyn. they've been throwing alot of surprises around though it could be one from the sacred stones or other older games.
  • JarkayColt - June 11, 2013 3:36 p.m.

Wow, this was some pretty neat insight. I like that Pit is the Uprising version with a multitude of different weapons, although, if there is also the Other M version of Samus, then why does Link still look like the TP appearance? I was expecting Skyward Sword's Link. Not that it matters or anything. Also, if the stages are different in each version, I reckon the characters will be, too. By which I mean, why would the Wii Fit Trainer be in the 3DS version? That wouldn't make a lot of sense. Looking forward to seeing all the other characters though. I hope Chrom or Lucina is in it, also instead of having both Ness and Lucas, Duster or Kumatora would be cool instead.
  • C.King - June 11, 2013 4:31 p.m.

it maybe as you said about link, samus had the same apearance for a while link's skyward sword and tp looks are near identicle though just whether or not they used dark style or cell shading. i know they revamped pikachu and kirby even if we can't tell at all. if the characters are different between versions then chrom or lucina(she could seriously easily be included even as a marth costume change) is diffidently gonna make it. i'd kinda prefer if the characters the same but i suppose it wouldn't be bad. miis could be included in either i don't think they gonna swap out the earth bound characters but who knows they not pulling punches with these surprises
  • JarkayColt - June 13, 2013 3:15 a.m.

Well, I was curious as to whether it was SS or TP Link because it would hint what sort of moveset he has. It's definitely TP Link though, because in the trailer he is using one of Barne's bombs again (i.e., TP design, rather than the bomb-flower-like ones in SS.) So you can expect he plays similarly to Brawl. And yeah, I think it would be cool if "Marth" in the new Smash is just masked Lucina. That way, it's not too spoilery. But if the new Smash also has costumes, then Lucina as an alt version of Marth is definitely the best way to go (maybe like how Wario had overalls and biker version in Brawl?) When I mentioned the EarthBound characters I think I was trying to say they should find some alternative choices so that certain characters aren't too "clone"-like. Duster, over Lucas, would be fairly unique. Also they need to make Captain Falcon and Ganondorf a lot more different. But that's just my opinion.

On the official website, there are no 3DS pictures of either WFT or AC Villager. They might be exclusive to the Wii U version.
  • JarkayColt - June 13, 2013 3:18 a.m.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I hope the Villager isn't a WiiU exclusive. I've been looking forward to having him in Smash for a long time. Is it just me or does the trailer hint that Nook might be there too, though?
  • C.King - June 13, 2013 9:51 a.m.

from the trailer yep you could see it as a hint, the villager's reaction turned some heads in the town and nook extremely close to the letter and for sure saw the seal. or we just looking into it too much, is animal crossing so big to have multiple characters at introduction to the series? we may need another metroid character they could seperate zero suit and normal samus, did anyone happen to see whether she finished her final smash in the trailer?
  • JarkayColt - June 13, 2013 10:22 a.m.

Animal Crossing is a pretty big deal, at least in Japan. New Leaf sold like hotcakes, so I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to add two characters at once. Then again, I can't imagine how Nook would fight (I would have preferred Nook instead of the Villager to be fair, with a similar moveset. He's a better "face" for Animal Crossing.) The shown footage cuts out just before the timeframe where Samus would otherwise have turned into Zero Suit Samus. So, it's impossible to tell if this still happens. You could hold a button to play as Zero Suit Samus in Brawl though, so I hope the new Smash just makes this into a more visible selection on the character select screen (a bit like how you could click a specific Pokémon's portrait when using Pokémon Trainer, to play as a certain Pokémon) rather than hiding it away (assuming Zero Suit Samus is still in the game, that is). But I'm sure everybody agrees that Ridley would be a good choice for a new Metroid character, similar to Bowser. They could also choose one of the characters from Metroid Prime: Hunters, I think that could work.
  • C.King - June 13, 2013 12:20 p.m.

i agree nook is a better face and can't imagine a different move list(why i doubted he'd be in) then again roy and marth had similar introduction i mainly want samus and zerosuit to be seperate on the character select so i don't have to grab 2 smash balls to use the z laser, zero suit should get a diff final smash i think ridley was gonna be playable in brawl but they needed a boss for subspace emissary, so i guess it depends on the single player this time around what potiential characters status are
  • JarkayColt - June 13, 2013 1:10 p.m.

Yeah, that is a good point actually. Samus doesn't really need to revert to Zero Suit after using her Final Smash, and vice versa. It'd be much better if they were seperate, or readily interchangeable like Zelda/Shiek. Ridley did make a pretty epic boss in Brawl though, especially when he comes back as Meta Ridley. Still, if Ridley were a fighter, Meta Ridley could also be his Final Smash, similar to Giga Bowser. I could see him working quite easily.
  • C.King - June 13, 2013 1:47 p.m.

isn't meta ridley the same class as dry bowser, having died once? who patched up ridely btw 0.0? what, is he really like terminator style a robot to begin with just with "skin" covering? kinda don't want interchangeable samus cause that'd be a move slot gone. my main deal about having them separate is the final smash, i'd use samus more if i didn't have to grab 2x as many smashballs rather than 1. i'm fine as playing with zero suit but her final smash sucks, ur grabbing the smash ball just to keep it from the others with her!
  • J-Fid - June 11, 2013 2:17 p.m.

Wii Fit Trainer... really? I wish, at the least, she didn't look like a mannequin.
  • C.King - June 11, 2013 4:21 p.m.

really? i like it ,it adds to the crazy. i'd be bored with link if he had an outfit change since he has realistic proportions. want distance from a real human in there, unless sakurai, miyamota, or iwata decide they wanna put themselves in. miyamoto could probably have a mix of existing moves from his creations
  • J-Fid - June 11, 2013 4:32 p.m.

I'm not sure I understand your argument. I don't hate the selection, it's just something I never expected to actually happen. Her mannequin like appearance just doesn't make her look very lively...
