Saints Row: The Third gets hacker-heavy “Deckers” trailer

Volition's new trailer for Saints Row: The Third focuses on the Deckers, a rival “hacker” gang who appear to celebrate every cyber-cliché ever advanced by confused people in the last 20 years. And if you think that's a bad thing, you may be unfamiliar with the concept of the Saint's Row series - and possibly fun in general.

The Deckers are one of the rival gangs you'll face in Saint's Row 3, joining the game's cast of reprobates from various crime movies and 50 Cent videos. These pasty ne'er-do-wells, however, look to have stepped off the pages of a William Gibson or Neal Stevenson novel (possibly by way of everyone's favorite realistic depiction of computer use, the 1995 movie Hackers). With one masterful stroke, Volition has near-effortlessly tied together Saint's Row, Tron: Legacy, the spate of hacker attacks plaguing software companies of 2011, and every goofy, overblown 1990s techno-thriller about cybercriminals and “decking.” Not bad for a 90-second clip, no? Shit will get virtually real when Saints Row: The Third drops on November 15.

How could this game get any better? Epic Retro computer games? Have it. Giant Explsions? Have it. Big guns? Have it. Epic weapons and melee moves? Have it. Fast cars and helicopters? Have it. Epic soundtrack that fits the mood? Have it. Pornstarts? Ohhhh yea, we have that. Conpletely random and awsome s**t that is over the top and no other games dare to cross that line?! Have it.

I think all they're missing is zombies at this point...

If it's anything like the first two games, one of your homies will die, and you'll be able to bring them back to life as a zombie. So yeah, you can fully expect zombies to be present.

Virtually real, a ha ha, haha. Still really excited for this, but it makes me kinda sad that they seem to be showing some really important plot points in these trailers. I mean if I was just playing normally and hit that Tron-y world I would be gobsmacked.

They have to have the tron bikes on there then make it playable in the streets as an unlockable vehical.
  • IsaacShadow - September 12, 2011 1:29 p.m.

    I piss myself with excitement.

    1. Game looks awesome as always. I have to remember to pre-order it to get the human cannon. 2. Why is there a trailer for a trailer?
  • MyCoolWhiteLies - September 12, 2011 3:01 p.m.

A game within a game? We have to go deeper...
  • ThatGuyFromTV - September 12, 2011 6:32 p.m.

Notice the Tank minigame? I think they already went deeper, a game within a game within a game... BWUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM! BWUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!

I love how this game continues to embrace insanity. Not sure if I'll get it day one though as I only have so much money. Anyone else convinced this gang is named after Rick Deckard of Blade Runner? Cause I think that's awesome.
  • ThatGuyFromTV - September 12, 2011 6:38 p.m.

We can't make this game any more ridiculous or crazy OH WAIT YES WE CAN LETS PUT TRON IN IT. Reality - or what's left of it - has just been thrown out the window. Only one question remains: CAN WE NUTSHOT THE PROGRAMS??
  • Xifihas - September 13, 2011 10:09 a.m.

    Do you have to ask?
