UPDATE: Capcom just released a press release for RE6 that's full of important details. See for yourself:

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, is very proud to announce that Resident Evil 6 is in full development and scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system on November 20, 2012 with a Windows PC version to follow. Blending action and survival horror, this latest instalment in the multi-million selling franchise is the most ambitious, immersive and feature rich title of the series to date and promises to be the dramatic horror experience of the year.

It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack.  With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.

In a first for the franchise, Resident Evil 6 sees series favorites Leon and Chris come together to face this unprecedented threat. They will be joined by new characters, each with their own unique perspective and involvement, in this relentless dramatic horror experience enacted on a global scale.

“Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series,” commented Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing. “The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil® title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.”

Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Resident Evil 6 Executive Producer added: “From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror. We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers.”

@MetroidPrimeRib i know that they don't i wish they would make a other breath of fire game i didn't really like 5 so much i liked 3 and 4's game play and story i felt limited in 5 cuz you only had 3 character's and you couldn't relay on Ryu's dragon form tho i herd some people liked the challenge tho but yea they totally should make a other Breath of fire game and soon lol

Wow! Just came across a site giving away free Resident Evil 6 demo downloads. All I had to do was fill out some short survey, which didn't ask me for any personal information. I thought it was a scam at first, until I saw the download link for the demo in my e-mail inbox! The site's still passing out demos, so if you guys want to try it out, just go here: Enjoy the zombie slaying!

I just hope it can be long, with 3 characters it better be 20hours+, i should not be able to beat the game in 7 hours first day release like RE5(Not that there is anything wrong with 7 hours) Also hope that there is true single player, and even with Co-Op partners that they have much better AI then sheva did

Gah! Why is the release date so far away? I hate tease trailers. Looks interesting though. I hope they actually include the use of cover like that in the game. Not enough use that.

I'm interested to see Chris' game play with the survivors running around the city along with zombies/BOWs. Should make the fight a little more tense unless you're able to shoot survivors with no consequences which is very unlikely given the character...

Why cant I wach these videos any more, I downlaod da flash but it still doesn't work
  • majormoses117 - January 20, 2012 4:45 p.m.

I'm just pumped for some real zombies finally. Las Plagas was boring and stupid
  • mothbanquet - January 21, 2012 6:42 a.m.

I don't know, I thought Las Plagas was a nice change of pace but the time's definitely come to get back to the more traditional foes. Games like Dead Island and Dead Rising have shown that slow, stupid, shambling zombies are always fun to smack around.
  • majormoses117 - January 23, 2012 1:42 p.m.

I guess why I like the "real" zombies more than Las Plagas is because a vast majority of the people you fight with Las Plagas look and behave like angry people trying to stab you or beat you up instead of bloodthirsty monsters trying to eat you. I mean, traditional zombies are more mindless and could adapt their tactics, to an extent, to try to get at you but Las Plagas victims can speak and think and act almost normal which lessened the immersion factor for me.

  • Clovin64 - January 20, 2012 3:14 a.m.

Its doesnt look like the return to survival horror I was wanting, but it DOES look like a pretty slick explosive action game, so I'll still buy this.

YES! Those videos from yesterday, when we weren't sure they were Resident Evil related videos, ****ing ruled and immediately got me pumped for this game. I remain optimistic for this.

You seem to have forgotten the third game: New mercenary guy - Kicking the shit out of Bio weapons and helicopters. I know, it sounds ridiculous... But let's be real here, with all the shit RE has pulled, it's not at all out of place, and it at least looks fun...
  • BladedFalcon - January 19, 2012 7:55 p.m.

Well... it's honestly hard not to get excited with that trailer. It was beautifully shot, action packed, and presents us with the two main protagonists of the series reunited for the first time. Add to the fact that it looks more beautiful and slick than ever... And yeah, this looks like a winner if we base it on this trailer. Now... Unlike most RE5 and RE4 haters out there, I'm skeptical about this still NOT because I think it's not gonna be scary. (I mean, personally? RE games NEVER scared me, not even the first ones. I just can't get nervous in a game that gives you machine guns and shotguns and rocket launchers to defend yourself, even if you moved like a tank.) I don't care about that. HOWEVER, story? I DO care about that, and well... RE4's was a mess, but it was entertaining enough... RE5's was just a disastrous, incoherent, cliched mess. And I am worried that this one might not have a better story. Then again, so far it looked pretty well ambiented, and with several points of view, it could deliver... Gameplay-wise, it does look like it has learned from it's mistakes, and it won't play like an uninvolved version of RE4 anymore, like RE5 did. People worried about the walking are aiming clearly can't put one on one together if they can't see that if you can pull runs, tackles, slides and snaps into cover like that, you just CAN'T have the same stiff movement scheme you had in 5. Overall, i am excited, cautiously excited, but still. gameplay-wise it looks better already, and if it delivers in characters and story, it could be a winner. And no, I don't give a shit if it doesn't even try to be scary anymore, if it's a genuinely good game, it can be whatever the fuck it wants to be.
  • mothbanquet - January 21, 2012 6:39 a.m.

Couldn't agree more. RE had it's shock scares and a few genuinely creepy enemies but it never made me afraid to go in the next room like, say, Silent Hill. But RE have nearly always been good, quality games with satisfying gameplay and a rich canon. I'm looking forward to this immensely and I hope it turns out to be as good as Leon's last outing...
  • BladedFalcon - January 21, 2012 8:05 a.m.

Exactly, and I mean... I think Capcom has fully embraced the "Action blockbuster" feel the series has been known for recently, and they don't hide it at all with this trailers. It's fans and people that need to understand and accept that RE is no longer a survival horror franchise, and it's not pretending to be one.
