iPad iPhone

I had Zero interest before but now I somehow have negative interest in the iPad
  • ultimatepunchrod - April 6, 2010 4:25 p.m.

i figured this would do absolute zero for video games. it was just apple trying to sell us on something to make a quick buck. im sure that this thing can probably do some good stuff as far as a netbook type device is concerned. but it wont be replacing the psp or ds any time soon(i hope).
  • mdiaz033 - April 6, 2010 4:24 p.m.

@crumbdunky - i understand your apple rage but not only are tablets (like the ipad) going to be the way of the future but so is anything that's portable. ipad isn't a decent hand held device... yet. also, nintendo and sony (and microsoft?)won't hesitate to make their hand held devices do things that the ipad and other tablets can do (browse net, use office, etc etc) i know you hate the attn the ipad is getting but expect more of this.

@Tommykrem - lol, man, good one! @EnragedTortoise1 - same. the graphics aren't TOO bad but it looks like it plays like sh!t and the console(?) is too damn expensive. one day i'll get to play RE4 on the go. one day... : (

I find it really odd that the iPad(and, in fct the iPhone/iPod Touch before it)gets as much attention on games sites as it does. In fact it annoys me-any decent games that go to the platforms are ruined by the controls being awful and any exclusives suffer both that fate AND by the fact they tend not to be anywhere near as good as those ports we can play better on any other platform around! We don't give mobile phone games this much coverage so why do we give the overpriced nonsense Apple come out with any more? Not only that but it's a dangerous thing as it gives people who haven't suffered the pain of gaming on said Apple p[products the impressin it might be as good as(in the case of the iPad) a netbook or laptop and, for the iPhone, in the same league as the DS and PSP-and neither Apple system can hold a light to it's gaming competition(and the iPhone's also a pretty average phone and poor, for the money, music playing/storing solution). Would we know that, though, from the coverage given to these, imo, pointless toys? I think loads of people, well a lot anyhow, buy Apple products under misconceptions thinking you really can game on them and you just can't-or at least not as well as other places for less money. Until they start making a better gaming platform I don't know if the level of fuss generated is right or fair and it should be toned down. I don't even care when the coverage isn't glowing as there's just WAY more than the things merit. I don't HATE Apple(I had both a Mac and Macbook at one time and don't think the stick they get is fair)but just think their lifestyle range of tech is pure design heavy(and a design that's getting old as hell these days yet still people maintain it's great FFS!), form over function fluff. The App Store is a joke, the games play like crap (even when the game you're hiding under your thumbs, which have no feedback from the awful pretend touchscreen buttons/Dpad, started life as a great game on another platform), for what they are the Apps are overpriced(and tjhe games), iTunes can sod right off and, being honest I see absolutely zero need for the iPad. At least the iPhone MIGHT have been OK had it outperformed other phones, MP3 players OR the DS/PSP but why on the planet would I need an iPad? What's it replacing? What gap does it fill or are they just trying to create one from nowhere to justify their crummy tablet? I've fallen for it before(REALLY wanted to love my iPhone as it goes!)even though I swore after my first, typically underperforming iPod(honestly, I couldn't get over how it wasn't as good to listen to as my relatively cheap Sammy at the time I bought my first Nano)that I'd wised up but, seriously, I think the fact sites make such a fuss about what really isn't a viable games platform is partially to blame. I'd LOVE for Apple to make a seriously great games platform but the fact remains that, as yet, they never have done and the iPad is NOT changing that. In future, then, can we have a tiny artic;le that just points out the irrelevance of these things as gaming tech and not a big feature every time as it gives the wrong impression to people-that these things matter in some gaming related way. And they really don't.

    $10 Solitaire app. It's COMING!
  • Tommykrem - April 6, 2010 10:52 a.m.

It should at least work well with minesweeper though? Oh, right... Apple.
  • oryandymackie - April 6, 2010 10:18 a.m.

If you polished a slab of granite long enough, you'd have the iPad.
  • Ovenman - April 6, 2010 7:58 a.m.

@speno93 you have heard of Apple right? Millions of rabid hipster fanboys willing to pay through the nose for something with less features and spread their arses when the next 'update' for a product comes along. As much as I hate them, Apple have made a pretty smart move here.
  • speno93 - April 6, 2010 4:02 a.m.

more expensive than all the the other major consoles , with infintely less graphical ability, rubbish touch screen and tilt controls and buttons that don't work properly. who in the right state of mind would buy this?
  • GamesRadarTylerWilde - April 6, 2010 3:31 a.m.

@Thanatos410 It's not actually a port of C&C: Red Alert. I'd hoped it would be as well. :( Seems like a fine RA game though...I'd have to play it more to know.
  • Moroz - April 6, 2010 3:26 a.m.

Well, navigating RTS menus on a touchscreen DOES sound satisfying. Just not "500 bucks minimum" satisfying.
  • Thantos410 - April 6, 2010 3:24 a.m.

Hmm, I never knew they had a C&C:RA port. Nevertheless, I can see how RTS games can be played on an iPad. However, my overall impression is that the iPad is useless.
  • Cogglesz - April 6, 2010 3:23 a.m.

    just as i thought, Sh#T
  • farsided - April 6, 2010 3:22 a.m.

Nonono...the controller is gonna be modeled after Steve Jobs' dick and you have to use it by sucking it long and hard, meanwhile bringing back the classic arcade feel by forcing you to tack 25 cent charges to your account every time you want to 'continue'.
  • ventanger - April 6, 2010 2:56 a.m.

If they made a controller attachment, would it still be as portable? Would you have to balance the 'pad on your knees? Or maybe it would attach to the controller somehow, making it heavy and dangerous to swing around...

Resi 4 looks okay just by the first pic though not really the second pic
