Rage: New gameplay clip previews the Gearhead Vault

Watch raid on tech-obsessed bandit clan

To mark its arrival at PAX Prime, Bethesda has released a new trailer for id Sotware’s upcoming role-play shooter, Rage. The clip takes you through the structure of a typical mission, from the initial assignment to shootouts in enemy territory. Based around the Gearheads, Rage’s most technology-focused bandit clan, this mission offers a look at some of the game’s steampunk-style tech, including deployable spider-guns and enemy jetpacks that can be used to player advantage.

id isn’t shy about showing its influences here, with the game’s look and feel running the gamut of post-apocalyptic action titles before settling on Fallout 3/New Vegas as notable points of comparison. Also worth mentioning is the Bulletstorm-esque specialty-kill that closes the clip: with the FPS field far broader than it was when id released Quake, Rage looks to incorporate plenty of touches from across the genre. Here’s looking forward to the game’s October release, when players will get a chance to see whether these incorporate into a comprehensive whole.

I'm not one to judge JUST from Graphics, but these ones look brilliant. The City at the start looks like something out of 2000AD. Definitely a Day 1 Purchase for me. I can see the fallout influences here, but, to me, this looks a lot more like Bulletstorm, or even Gears 3, which is still totally fine by me. I like the ability to use loads of different gadgets in tandem, and even being able to use two separate minigun turrets to pin enemies down in one position. I was worried this was going to be all Balls-out action and not enough tactical gameplay, but I was definitely wrong.

Thank you R_U, I knew I recognized that voice, but I couldn't figure it out. Can't wait for this game. Most ridiculous re-captch ever! First word: rtionict (? i think, theres a very thick line through and I can't tell) Second "word": h, then some how and arrow pointing the right, then an infinity symbol rtionict h→∞ (with trial and error, some internet research and Word, i created it. if it posts like this, it worked)
