RadioRadar podcast 038: A place for hate

This week's episode goes into important issues. Issues like... actually, it doesn't go into important issues. We ended up talking about poop for a while, though, so that counts for something! We also announce a new "Great American Fanart Challenge" for everyone to enjoy together!

Hosts: Hollander Cooper, Tom Magrino, Ryan Taljonick, Greg Henninger, Lorenzo Veloria, Lucas Sullivan
Question of the week: What Star Wars game do you want EA to make? Answer to win some awesome thing!

I would like a third-person shooter, buddy cop game starring Han Solo and Chewbacca, Chewbacca being a by the books cop who gets stuck with the hotshot Han Solo, who doesn't play by the rules, after his previous partnered retired. It would also feature Admiral Akbar as the police chief who is always yelling at Han for his reckless ways. The plot would be that there have been assassinations of important political players and it is up to Han and Chewbacca to catch the assassin(s) and bring them to justice. Also, Chewy would be wearing full police uniform because when you are a cop you can't just walk around with no clothes on, this isn't Kashyyyk after all. Along the way we would see Han and Chewbacca's friendship grow strong because of what they have gone through together. There would also be Admiral Akbar in his office shouting to the heavens, "Soloooooooooooooo!" every time Solo go on his nerves.

I would like to see one (or both) of these games made. First Republic Commando 2 by Danger Close. Second a fully fleshed out Star Wars RTS (made by Maxis) that spans Prequels, Original, and New trilogies. Think about a screen filled dozens (if not hundreds) of Wookies, Storm troopers and battle droids all running at each other. Boom!

Jesus, guys. I think this is the 2nd time you've referred to Persia as not being a real place. It's called Iran now, but it's real and it's not Saudi Arabia. And it's totally legitimate to still call it Persia and the people who live there, Persians.

Awesome article as usual, the Lack of Henry is like eating my cereal without slices of Banana pieces in it, but having all of these guys in return feels much more sweeter.Great Podcast, it keeps getting better. My name in my heritage comes off as pronouncing the first A as an O, so pronouncing my username would be "Showksta" but anyone seeing my name in the first place would assume its an A so honestly i never mind how anyone pronounces it. "Showsta", "Shawksta", go ahead. As for QOTW: I dont care who does it, no more easy set ups, no more teasing, no more high royalty, give us a prequel of how Yoda became who he is, how did be become the General, and especially Grand Master of the Jedi Council, how did HE deal with getting the light saber and become who he is, and especially on whatever happened to his species and homeworld. Its registered as unknown, but that doesnt mean they cant make a game where we see through Yoda's eyes what happened.

Another Jedi Outcast game, for nostalgia.

FYI I'm still a guy. Also I want a Risk:Star wars. EA has previously worked on a risk game for consoles and I would want to play risk with a map of the entire galaxy with planets (like Hoth or Taboo) the territories players would be going for.

I would like Bioware to make a third person action noir featuing Chewbacca. Han Solo is being held by Jabba the Hutt so it is up to everybodies favorite wookie to do what it takes to get him back. Main features of this game include a conversation tree system were you can choose which unintelligable whiney grunt noise chewy responds with. Meet other characters that help you rescue Han, and get to know them well enough to open romance options with the furry wookie. Chewy is fully customizable including a variety of belts, shoes & hats, plus many different hairstyles available at the Tatooine barber. Find out about chewy's dark past that turned him to a life of drink and prostitution. Experience chewy like you've never experienced him before!

Seems like I answer KotOR every three weeks here. Might as well keep it going. Give us the story Bioware started so many years ago in an experience that's not an MMO, but a sweeping 30-40 hour campaign, since we all know that's where Bioware excels.

I want a Bushido Blade Lightsaber fighting game. Every fight is a dire battle to avoid getting yourself cut in two by a blade only able to be stopped by another blade. You could do your best to run from your opponent, using force powers to try to slow them down, or bear down on the enemy and attempt to overwhelm them with a flurry of slashes. Get hit on the arm? That arm is gone. Get hit in the leg? Good luck trying to crawl away from your opponent. Get hit in the head or cut through the torso? Goodbye. Should include the ability to design your own Jedi and customize their assortment of power as well as their lightsaber. Fights should be able to end in mere seconds or be an agonizing endurance battle between two equally skilled opponents.

I want any game that will stop people from hating on the prequels because of their own nostalgic bias.
  • GR HollanderCooper - May 12, 2013 2:59 p.m.

A game that rewrites the prequels to not suck? Now that's crazy talk.
  • BladedFalcon - May 18, 2013 12:06 p.m.

People that haven't even seen the original trilogy still think they're mediocre movies at best. Which they are. Take away the flashy special effects and set-pieces, and the story of each makes no fucking sense even standing on it's own. Not to mention that the characters lack any significant amount of personality.

I think EA needs to make a starwars MOBA. I played Star Wars DotA mod before and it was pretty cool watching Boba Fett having his rockets and flametrhower as an ability, then there is General Grievous with awesome animations. With improved graphics from the old version I played, this would be perfect for EA to get into the MOBA market also.

Well I want Force Unleashed 3 to come out already. Some Star Wars experts say it isn't a good part of the lore, but I loved it, very different.
  • ssj4raditz - May 11, 2013 8:03 a.m.

DICE is slated to make Star Wars games, correct? Take Mirror's Edge and morph it into a game where you play as a jedi. Imagine using Force powers in first-person, running around, jumping off of walls, lightsaber battling. I basically want Jedi Knight but with parkour, I guess is what I'm saying...
  • Headshot10101 - May 11, 2013 7:24 a.m.

I want Visceral Games to make a sequel to Star Wars Bounty Hunter....... oh wait that's just Star Wars 1313. Well that's what I want.
  • THETHINGABOUT - May 11, 2013 4:33 a.m.

Hell yes, this episode was awesome as usual - but slightly more so. Great energy, lots of laughs, and I can't wait to see the fanart this time! Feels just like the old Tdar days ^_^ Which makes me realise I just want to mention how much RadioRadar has grown into its own thing. Of course it began with the expectations to fill the Tdar void, but the new GR people do it their way, and it's awesome! The sense of humour in this show is so different while still feeling the same as Tdar. I don't quite know what I'm saying, but I fucking love RadioRadar just as much if not more now than Talkradar. Don't stop, pls.

A game where you're a jedi addicted to death sticks by Grasshopper.
  • supergiraffe - May 11, 2013 12:14 a.m.

A point and click adventure by Double Fine where you're an astromech droid who is trying to destroy a sith battle cruiser without being discovered. Force Unleashed plot, Rising Revengences combat. Persona team does a game about a young padawan in a Jedi academy. During the night he's haunted by dreams of Sith lords, and only certain other padawans can share these visions. You build relationships with them during the day to strengthen yourself at night, all the while attending classes. Telltale makes a Pazaak game exactly like Poker Night. These are all assuming EA buys these companies.
