Prototype 2 trailer goes hunting

Activision and Radical Entertainment have been quiet on the progress of Prototype 2, but now that the hype surrounding Spike's VGAs and the dearth of holiday releases has started to level off, they've returned with a new developer diary highlighting the thrill of the game's hunt. See how Sgt. James Heller will get around, hack top secret info, and track his prey in the latest video.

In Prototype 2, targets will identified by hacking Blackwatch's Black.Net data network and consuming the memories of key NPCs. After learning who Sgt. Heller should hunt, players will utilize an inFamous-esque sonar mechanic to scan the nearby area and zero in on their hapless victim. This is the main way Sgt. Heller will go about shutting down evil Blackwatch and Gentek operations throughout the game, while satisfying his hunger in the process.

“Hunting is one of the most empowering feelings in the game,” asserts Ken Rosman, Studio Boss. “Most games, you know, they put a marker on somebody in the world, and you're like, 'OK, that's how I'm suppose to get you. You've already told me. It takes all the fun out of it'. But hunting, really, that pulse is just visceral; you hear it, you feel it, you see it.”

Other combat tweaks were documented back in October in Radical Entertainment's “The Art of Combat” dev diary. You'll have the chance to hunt Blackwatch elite when the game arrives worldwide for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on April 24, 2012.
