Prototype 2 GamesCom spot rightly assumes you probably didn't play the original

Prototype 2 doesn't labor under the illusion that you probably played the original, a sleeper hit that we awarded a 9 and which you can find at the bottom of a discount-bin somewhere. Assuming your computer screen's closer to hand than that, this GamesCom spot for the sequel is light on gameplay details beyond “big men smash shit up” – the clip's instead given over to a lengthy explanation of the game's background. Which is lucky, because if we told you the story began with “a secretive organization was developing a deadly virus as a bioweapon,” heaven only knows what assumptions you might make if this clip wasn't around to tell you, “it didn't go very well.”

You may feel like the videogaming world's supply of black-clad faceless drones is inexhaustible and there's no use even trying to cull their numbers – but seriously, you could do worse than to give Prototype a go in the lead up to the sequel's April launch next year. You just know Radical's setting this whole thing up for an Epic Trilogy anyway – might as well get on board now so you don't need to watch the inevitable nine-minute recap clip that will surely presage Prototype 3's eventual release, right?

I loved the first Prototype and I'm definitely going to get the second. Also, I kind of liked the story.

How about I dont waste my time with playing any of them OR watching any recap clips? Sounds better to me.

I followed prototype since i first heard about it got it as soon as it came out and played through it twice. I heard that they were making the missions better in this one. hopefully they don't change the helicopter controls :)

I hate these types of games and would never buy one. However, my girlfriend did buy me this And I played it to death. I loved how every move, even the basic attacks, were unique, plus running up a skyscrpaer to elbow drop from the top onto bystanders on the sidewalk was great fun.

I brought the first one at full price, I don't regret it, since I have spent money on worst games, I felt this one delivered what I was expecting it to deliver. I will get the second and hopefully the third.

I definitely enjoyed my time with Prototype, but I couldn't help but feel like it was a shameless copy and paste of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction with a different skin. The control scheme, the combos, the moves, everything was exactly the same with a few differences depending on the power you used. Don't get me wrong, I loved Ultimate Destruction so I had no qualms about it other than paying $60 for a re-skin. Favorite thing to do in Prototype: Muscle Mass + Bio-Armor. I laugh at your puny tanks.

Smashbro, I see it sold for 20 here in Vegas, so....

Would love it more if the player used doesnt have the graphics quality jumping all over the place. Would love an external link to vids. Either way Prototype 1 was good, although pretty repetetive, hopefully that changes.

Ouuuch. I played and loved Prototype, probably the most sandbox fun I'd had since Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. I thought it was pretty well formed, very much looking forward to #2

I got Prototype for my birthday, and I loved it! Classic example of a a $40 dollar game at a $60 price tag though. I just loved killing people... <3 Mercer

$70???? I dont know where you shop but the game is nowhere near that price now! It's $30 brand new and around $16 to $25 dollars used (!viasearch/products/7963607/Prototype). Still too high for a 2 year game though!

Prototype is the best underrated game I've ever had the pleasure of playing. The story (and cutscenes) were painful, yes, but that didn't take away from my experience. "At the bottom of a discout bin?" That game was $70 for QUITE a while, if not still. I've yet to see Prototype at the bottom of anything.
