Pokemon X and Y save glitch reportedly freezing games

You may want to avoid saving in the streets of Lumiose City in Pokemon X and Y. Several users have reported encountering a glitch which renders the game unplayable after doing just that (via VentureBeat).

The glitch reportedly occurs when users go to save in the outer streets of X and Y's largest city: any attempts to load that saved game will result in the same frozen screen, a hard reset the only way to escape.

It doesn't seem to affect every player, but it still would not hurt to take precautions for now, and save outside the city or inside one of its many buildings. A Nintendo representative said the company is looking into the issue at the moment. We'll update this article with any further information.

In the meantime, several users on Reddit state that removing their 3DS system's SD card before starting the game fixed the issue. It's worth a try if you have a physical copy of the game and have already encountered the bug.

Wow, it sure is unfortunate that this glitch isn't making the game revert to the backup save like the previous games would if the save was corrupted.

Weird! I'm pretty sure that I immediately saved and quit my game once I first reached Lumiose City and I had no problems loading it back up; wonder what causes it?

While reading this article I realised I saved in the south part of the city, went to check my 3DS and managed to load successfully. Is it wierd that I got an adrenalin rush?

i don't blame ya it'd suck to loose ur saved data on ur first playthrough before you checked out everything, especially if u managed to get a super sized pumpkaboo. i hope i can hold up until the bank opens, before i restart.

Huh, past that point now, myself, but good to know, since it's obvious I'll be going back to that place sooner than later :P

At least Nintendo now has the means to easily patch this.
