Welcome to Pokemon Monday, GamesRadar's new podcast 100% devoted to all things Pokemon. Step into the bizarre hivemind of several adult Pokemon fantatics each Monday as we bring you a no-frills, raw and unedited passionate Pokemon discussion covering breaking news, events, and whatever else is on our singularly devoted Pokemon brains. No Pokemon-related topic is off limits.

Episode 27 highlights

Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig and Unova - We weigh in on what we think about the name localizations so far.

Henry's Thanksgiving Pokemon report - He watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and lived to report on it, and also managed to squeeze in a viewing of the Arceus movie.

Pokemon x Metal Gear - Our favorite Pokemon fan image of the week.

Pokemon spotlight discussed - Fighting-type Dokkora bears a striking resemblance to the Machop family, but how does it stack up? Likewise, we can't help but compare Gamageroge to fellow Water/Ground type Swampert.

Henry hates children - Or at least, he hates when they affect his ability to play games with his friends. Kudos to all the parents who manage to juggle parenting and Pokemon. It's never to early to teach them about EV training!

Pokemon of the week: Venusaur - The Seed Pokemon. Sludge Bomb and Leech Seed are musts for this Grass/Poison dual type starter. Side note: sometimes my cat reminds me of Venusaur.

Question of the week: What's your favorite Pokemon type (Grass, Fire, Dark, etc)? Why?

See you next week!

Love the bit on the end of the video ".....coming up, Tapdancers as far as the eye can see!"
  • PorkoMan - November 30, 2010 12:39 a.m.

Ugghhh the new names are sorta meh. Snivy I could get used to, Oshawott is fun to say, but I will never, ever support Tepig.

I don't really know why I like flying that much, except for the fact that they fuck up bug types real good. I guess it's cause Pidgey was my first pokemon I got to level 100 in red. I always have a flying type in my party. In fact, one of the reasons I had such problems with Gen III, Swellow didn't have a third evolution. Always bothered me.

FIRE!!!!! FIRE!!!!! FIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRE! It's why I always chose fire starters first
  • 510BrotherPanda - November 30, 2010 12:57 a.m.

I've said it before, Grass is still my favorite Type, because of Bulbasaur,Ivysaur and Venusaur. I'm wearing my big Bulbasaur keychain right now! So is it Pokay-Mon or Pokey-Mon? Those announcers are still doing it wrong.

I don´t like the name of the new region, but rename it Unova makes sense, because "uno" is the spanish word for "one" and "ichi" (sounds like Isshu) is the japanish word for "one", even the german version rename the region Einall and "ein" is the german word for "one", so it makes sense

  • Innounci - November 30, 2010 1:15 a.m.

I love dark types, they really touched a good nerve for me in gold/silver and have loved them ever since. Umbreon and Houndoom are still in my top 10. :D
  • bkoz117 - November 30, 2010 1:18 a.m.

I've always loved water type pokemon, starting with my choice of squirtle over charmander on my pokemon red cartridge (I named him sqrtthwrt, trying to spell squirt the wert but not understanding vowel sounds... or comedy). You always need one for surf, waterfall, or dive. There's tons of great water pokemon (lapras being the best of all). And it beats the second coolest type, which is fire.

Electric Types all the way Then Normal Then Water
  • Crabhand - November 30, 2010 1:32 a.m.

Hooray for Pokémon Monday! My favorite type is probably ice. Mostly because it completely wrecks dragons and up until Black and White, every dragon was 4x weak to ice. And I totally went out and bought Ruby this weekend (never played third gen) and I'm loving it so far. Best of all, once I get the Regis transferred over to Platinum, I will only need Deoxys, Arceus, Shaymin and Darkrai to finish up my Pokédex.
  • Crabhand - November 30, 2010 1:43 a.m.

Woah, totally forgot about Celebi. That too.
  • shmoopy97 - November 30, 2010 2:03 a.m.

  • MrSuitMan - November 30, 2010 2:10 a.m.

Yeah, they might be kiiiinda copies, but TumorFrog and MuscleClown are still extremely badass. Especially MuscleClown. Those pink bulges on its body? Yeah, those are veins.
  • deformedorange - November 30, 2010 2:10 a.m.

dragon because the only weaknesses are ice and dragin, two of the least common types.
  • nomnom52 - November 30, 2010 2:29 a.m.

Wotter, sorry, i mean water :P Their useful HM slaves, and generally kick ass.
  • Robusken - November 30, 2010 2:47 a.m.

Electric all the way! Venusaur is one of my favorites, leech seed and sleep powder make for one hell of a combination.
  • BoltActionRevolver - November 30, 2010 3:18 a.m.

I tend to do the gras starter, but recently, I've been leaning fire "But the water starters tend to be not as cute as of late, and don't look as awesome later on) As for the new names of the starter. I perfered Wotter, and Snivy is still kinda meh. Tepig sounds Memish and strangly not far off of what people have been alling it before, firepig
