Pidove
#025 Unova / #519 National
Type:
Normal/Flying
Species classification: Tiny Pigeon Pokemon
Abilities:
Big Pecks – Defense can't be lowered
Super Luck – Doubles chance of critical hits
Dream World ability: Rivalry – Boosts base power of moves by 25% if opponent is same gender, and lowers by 25% if opponent is opposite gender
Location found (Black/White): Route 3, Pinwheel Forest
Wild hold items: None
Egg groups: Flying
Capture rate: 255
Gender ratio: 50/50
Effort values: 1 Attack
Evolution family: Pidove > Tranquill at level 21 > Unfezant at level 32

Design-wise, Pidove and its evolutions seem superfluous given that we already have a pigeon-inspired Pokemon in Pidgey/Pidgeotto/Pidgeot, but at least it does have one interesting thing going for its design, which is the obvious sexual dimorphism of its final evolution, Unfezant. Pokemon collectors will have to catch both male and female variants for their perfect collections, which always messes up the PC box a little if you organize by ‘dex number.

I have to admit that after training Unfezant I realized that I like diamond and pearl's starly and family much better.

Wow. At least Pidgey had some character. The first evolution here literally just looks like a bird that will shit on your car and eat bread tossed by old men.

Kind of disappointing with this one because it is just so close to Pidgey and family.

Man, Pidove's 'Dex entry is just mocking it, but it turns such a weird corner with the male evolution in the end. Really like the highly differentiated genders.

I like Unfezant. Is this the first pokemon who looks drastically different between genders?
