It’s reassuring to see that the DS juggernaut is showing no signs of slowing down. There are constantly enough crazy games being made that demonstrate its mass appeal. We’d only be happier if there were more Wii games being produced. But don’t let the fact that most of the games previewed here are imports stop you from getting excited. Remember, imported DS games can play on your American DS. You just need to get over your crushing xenophobia. Feast your eyes on the cornucopia of love below.
Puchi Puchi Virus - DS
We just like the fact that there’s a developer called Keys Factory. We like their game, too, which kicks off with “the cabin began the medical treatment of people of a village instantly” (it says here). It’s a puzzler, where you use the stylus to link up viruses, eradicating any caught in the middle. Could be better than Dr. Mario, whichever way you look at it.
Tamiya Box Art - DS
Yep - it’s that DS military model-painting game the world’s been waiting for. Switch between three effects - colored pencil, watercolors and oils - then wish hard for a DS printer.
Nodame Cantabile - DS
He could have at least combed his hair before stepping up to the conductor’s podium. But we’ll forgive him for bringing the “art” of orchestra conducting to the DS, in what looks like a fairly basic - but symphony-packed - rhythm actioneer. Notes scroll along the screen; you tap them with the stylus. Easiest job in the world.
