New York City: As seen in videogames!

Our video homage pays tribute to the Big Apple

Words: on July 14, 2009

New York City is one of the most recognizable and revered cities in the world. It’s no surprise then that it’s been portrayed in videogames ever since programmers realized that electronic computation boxes could transmit graphicals on their cathode readouts. We hope you’ll enjoy this comprehensive collection of digital New Yorks, cultivated with the utmost love and respect for The City that Never Sleeps.

    @Dondada

    No you are not the only one. But take into serious consideration that games like GTA: San Andreas featured cities like LA, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. So no boredom at all.

    New York the city that never sleeps
    It is also the city that always gets blown up, crime war, super powered freaks, movies, and fucking terrible T.V. shows

    The only that should be in New York is the Colbert Report.

    There is no God only Colbert bow down to his power or bend over to his jokes and co-wrighters.

    That was awesome music, anyone know what it is so I can go find it?

    Also, awesome vid, good to see New York City in various eras as a major city of videogames.
    But I'm glad you didn't show its portrayal in Urban Strike...since that had 9/11 happening in it << about six years before.

    Hay guise! Glad you like the video. Lizzie and I worked super hard on it.

    The song is "New York" by Micro Chip League, a late-80s industrial/rave classic. I made the 8-bit intro, the first few bars of the famous song "New York, New York," with a NES synth plugin for Garage Band.

    Deus Ex was in there, a quick shot looking out at the city from the dock at the beginning of the game. If we left out your favorite game set in NYC, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive us... maybe we'll save it for a sequel?
