Ever wondered how modern video game stories would play out as classic text adventures? Would they lose that emotional edge? Would the complexity of control make them impossible to understand? Well, you can stop imagining, and start discovering... How? In a new regular feature the immensely talented GamesRadar UK team will make real text adventures--that you can actually play and finish--based on key scenes from modern games.
We've started already, and you can play the Lizard Challenge (the finger cutting scene) from Heavy Rain, RIGHT NOW. Go on, give it a go.
There are instructions on how to play at the start of the game. We know you like to skip tutorials, but this one is worth a quick read. This scene from Heavy Rain took us about 6-7 hours to build, and there are bound to be problems. If you encounter any bugs, just let us know in the comments and we'll do our best to fix them. Below is a video of the actual scene to show you what is possible. With the exception of a little artistic license, we've done our best to duplicate everything in the video...
Also, let us know about the games you'd like to see as text adventures in the future. And, er, we'll make it so. Feeling brave? You can create your own text adventures at textadventures.co.uk.
