Metal Gear comedy routine is hilariously spot-on

Comedian Dara O'Briain sucks at playing videogames, but he's great at telling jokes. If your Monday is lacking a few laughs, might we suggest watching his latest routine on the trials and tribulations of being Solid Snake.

(Caution: the following video is slightly NSFW. Please use your headphones responsibly.)

Videogame comedy is typically limited to jokes about blowing NES cartridges or how Mario continually gets cock blocked by Princess Peach, so it's nice to see a comedian tackle something within the last decade.

Dara O'Briain isn't coming to North America anytime soon, but you can check up on him at his official website.

Along with Charlie Brooker, Dara would be a perfect host if they ever decide to stop making shit tv shows and remake Gamesmaster.

He's a brilliant comedian, I just wish Mock The Week'd come back (where the hell did it go?). Glad to see gaming's beginning to earn a bit of respect, I'm tired of hearing about music and films, especially since there haven't been any good films since Kick-Ass.

Genuinely funny video game humor? I thought that was a myth. But wow, this guy was great.

I watched this live, the best comedian I've watched in ages

Haha he's good. I always wanted to see a gaming comedian. SOOOO much to talk about and god just talking about pathfinding and stupid harvesters in games like C&C would give you at least 20 minutes.

I came across this a week or two ago. I love Dara O'Briain, he's definitely one of my favourite comedians.

Absolutely hilarious. Though my biggest highlight was watching Mrs. Chip's "wtf?" expression turn into literally falling out of the chair laughing.

This has made my week. Thanks.

Extra funny points because the idea for Otacon saying "Oh, Snake" snarky-like once in awhile is believable what with Kojima and his meta-game mentality.

The wii pony bit was very funny, as was the snake? Snake?! SNAAAAAAAKE!!

Really funny stuff. We need more comedians who do more modern and more accurate video game jokes. This guy is a-okay in my book.

    That was one funny bastard!!!
  • Tenfey - November 30, 2010 1:53 a.m.

    I actually laughed

That was great. I'm glad that he called the Wii out on having tons of games that are way too casual and stupid.
  • hardcore_gamer1990 - November 29, 2010 11:57 p.m.

I just loved the impersination of someone crouching round the battlefield. And the mission debrief about snake too :D
  • BrunettePride - November 29, 2010 11:54 p.m.

Brilliant, he's always made me laugh though! His appearance on Gameswipe talking about GTA 4 and GOW was ace too. Need more like him!

    *slow clap*

Funny how swearing with an irish accent is only 'slightly NSFW'.
  • lovinmyps3 - November 29, 2010 10:57 p.m.

That was pretty damn funny. Nice to see someone who know's what they're talking about.
