Men In Black 3 screenwriter will re-write Ghostbusters 3

Ghostbusters 3 has a new screenwriter in the form of Men In Black 3 's Etan Cohen, who has answered Dan Aykroyd's (increasingly desperate) call to help lick the long-gestating sequel into shape.

A few weeks ago, Bill Murray revealed that, "they just don't have a really good script", referring to the work done by The Office: An American Workplace duo, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. It was a reflection echoed by Aykroyd's decision to hire a new writer, as announced earlier in the month.

"It's got to be perfect," conceded Aykroyd. "That's the whole thing. There's no point in doing it unless it's perfect. So that's what we're up to now." Cohen is the man charged with improving things, arriving fresh off the back of his duties as the sole credited writer on Men In Black 3 .

The new Ghostbusters film isn't the only supernatural comedy Cohen is currently working on at present, as he's soon to make his directorial debut on the imaginatively titled Boy Scouts vs. Zombies . Cohen's previous work has included scripts for Tropic Thunder and Idiocracy .

Aykroyd will be hoping that Cohen can reinvigorate the screenplay and reignite interest in a project that seems to have been mired in development hell for some time now.

And if he can write something that sells Bill Murray on the idea, so much the better... After all, his name convinced the star to lend his voice to Garfield , as he was mistaken for a Coen brother .
