Meet the Class of 2008

7 Jan, 2008

A new year of gaming stretches before us. A vast, virginal territory as limitless as the imagination of its creators. New worlds. New adventures. New experiences. And, of course, new heroes. While many virtual wrinklies - like Solid Snake, Sam Fisher and Ryu Hayabusa - are all set to return in 2008, they will be joined by a fresh-faced crop of contenders all looking to make their mark.

But who are these heroic hopefuls and what can they bring to the arena of complex algorithms that us simple-tongued mortals refer to as 'gaming'?

We've arbitrarily plucked 10 of this year's brave-hearted debutants and lumped them together into a rag-tag looking line-up that we've called the Class of 2008, purely so we can present it in a kind of pre-year yearbook stylee.

As you can see from the mug shots above, our selected band of brothers (and one sister) are a pretty moody looking bunch. But could one of these peachy physiognomies become the ubiquitous face of gaming in 2008?

To find out their chances, we've taken a look at each of these new-born avatars, their respective stories and what each one can bring to gaming. We've also done a 'most likely to...' light-hearted one-liner. You know, just for laughs.

I don't have the energy to really hate anything properly. Most things I think are OK or inoffensively average. I do love quite a lot of stuff as well, though.
