Where are Spider-Man 2 and last year's The Amazing Spider-Man which was surprisingly awesome. Especially the indoor levels which bring you back to his awesome PS game.

Sorry to be pedantic about a fluff article, but if you are looking for the 'best' games, it pointless to pit solitary games against each other in categories. One of the reasons being, using that technique, Aquaman, deemed by this very site to be one of the worst comic book games of all time, wins a category just for being 'accurate', and consequently swings the entire result.

Lets be honest DC has 1 standout series of games(Batman: Arkham series) as well as really really terrible games, while marvels games range from mediocre to good, if you exclude movie games because really they drag both guys down in the long run. I say Marvel has the best games overall because Marvel doesn't make really good games but they don't make soul crushingly bad ones either because seriously take out Batman Arkham games and you can't make a case for DC at all. So in short overall winner Marvel best standalone game DC.
  • shawksta - April 12, 2013 7:01 a.m.

Very interesting article between the two. Some categories though depended on how better representation was while others depended on which was the better game in general.

I see what you're doing here, GR, but it's a lame way to duck from the real question: Which company, overall, has the best video game adaptations? DC has... The Arkham games, and um... Marvel has... Every other Spider-Man game, Ultimate Alliances, the "vs." series, Ultimate Hulk, etc. In that sense, Marvel absolutely blows DC out of the water.
  • Facelord - April 12, 2013 4:43 p.m.

I'd say the real question is "who makes the better games?" and that's undoubtedly DC.
  • Ronnie-_- - April 13, 2013 2:20 p.m.

You just contradicted yourself, "which company, overall, has the best video game adaptions?" The key word being "best". And with that, the Arkham series blows every other adaption, Marvel and DC, out of the water. Quality Over Quantity.

You have forgotten the game that gives Batman Arkham (insert title) a run for its money... The awesome Punisher game on the PS2 and Xbox. Now that was incredible. Batman wins it for DC though

Hoo, boy. This has my inner nerd struggling. I've only played the marvel games, so I'm forced to go with that. Also, where did you get the artwork for the title slide? That is freakin awesome!
  • Facelord - April 12, 2013 4:42 p.m.

I'm almost certain it's the Amalgam Comics crossover, DC and Marvel came together to make it. Pretty cool, really, just as a fan service thing.
  • obviouslyadouche - April 12, 2013 10:04 p.m.

Amalgam was when they fused characters from both universes, like one of them was a Wolverine Batman combo. The title artwork is probably from one of the JlA Vs Avengers books.
  • EAC73 - April 12, 2013 2:22 p.m.

Think you should of used Ultimate Spider-Man for open world, but overall great article. I'd have to say Marvel wins imo.
  • SixSpeedSamurai - April 13, 2013 5:53 a.m.

The Arkham series is so far above anything else DC and Marvel have done, it wins alone.
  • Technomancer - April 13, 2013 10:56 a.m.

As far as non-crossover fighting games, wouldn't Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects have made a better showing than the Kinect game?
  • Spiderman - April 15, 2013 3:56 p.m.

  • talleyXIV - April 13, 2013 6:23 p.m.

Spiderman 2 should have been in this somewhere, it was too good to be ignored.
  • archnite - April 14, 2013 7:37 a.m.

So Marvel could go for the tie in the "Best LEGO Adaptation" when LEGO Marvel comes out against LEGO Batman 2.
  • gus179 - April 14, 2013 4:48 p.m.

Guessing how the newer games are gonna go down, i'd guess that that Batman will be slightly better than deadpool( but you never know;) and infinite crisis will be better than marvel heroes. Injustice will kick absolute, unquestionable ass though.
  • MrSpoiler17 - April 15, 2013 12:49 a.m.

Easily Marvel. The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is still the best superhero game.
