Man glues together bits of dead animals to make soul-suckingly horrific Mario monster

There's fan art, there's impressive fan art, and now, finally, after all of our years of waiting and hoping, there's finally fan art that uses bits of dead animals to create a taxidermied Koopa Paratrooper. And you thought those realistic Mario and Kirby pictures were disturbing...

Frankly, with imagery like this there's very little I can add in words. So instead, scroll further down past the photo of Darick Maasen's impressive but terrifying entry to next month's Super Iam8bit art exhibition in LA and I'll show you another corpse-built Nintendo tribute I was inspired to knock together this morning after seeing this one.

All very cute in safe, Nintendoey pixels, aren't they? But if ever you needed an argument for stylised graphics over finely-rendered realism, it's this malshaped braying nightmare.

Want to know which other Nintendo characters should never be seen in a realistic form? Pokemon. To prove this, I've taken a photo of the 100% genuine Pikachu I taxidermied together today.

Can you guess what it is yet? If you answered "A f*cking abomination, Dave", you are correct.

  • mockraven - July 27, 2011 1:27 p.m.

As creepy as that first photo is, I had to laugh when I saw the second. I saw that tail and thought, "Dave took a picture of a cat's bum to get that." Disclaimer: I don't actually stare at cats' bums, but anyone who has ever been owned by a cat has probably seen the backside when said cat was upset with their human. :P

I really like the work, I can only hope that when I die, I'll be lucky enough to become a piece of art.
  • EnragedTortoise1 - July 27, 2011 2:03 p.m.

Almost as creepy as the Endermen Notch revealed yesterday..
  • shawksta - July 27, 2011 2:34 p.m.

Well thats disturbing, but yeah thats why mario uses creative stylised artstyles instead of realistic, its too morbid!
  • SirNinja - July 27, 2011 3:24 p.m.

Super Mario Bros. is a very very very weird game when you think about it.
  • Turbonutter - July 27, 2011 3:37 p.m.

Ok, I'm gonna be one of those jerks that gets all technical here - since it's an animal and not a human it isn't considered a corpse, it's a carcass. That said, damn right it's disturbing... plain old taxidermy seems quite normal now.
  • Imgema - July 27, 2011 3:43 p.m.

i would love to see this turtle in creepy, jerky stop motion animation in a Super Mario movie.
  • jackthemenace - July 27, 2011 4:26 p.m.

The first one looks like my Grandma.
