Jurassic Park: The Game now coming to PS3 and 360, new console-ified trailer inside

Shares

Remember that sad news a couple days ago about Telltale’s downloadable Jurassic Park release being delayed? Now the adventure game dev has softened that blow by announcing that whenever the dinosauric title actually comes out, it won’t be PC-exclusive. Soon the game 65 million and 18 years in the making will be playable on PS3 and 360 as well.

Above: Does that right stick on the screen convince you it’s for 360?

Following yesterday’s announcement that the dev had made a deal to publish games on the 360 again, the first of those games will be Jurassic Park during its nebulous “fall 2011” release date. Also of note is that the 360 version will be sold as a retail disc containing all the episodes, instead of in small chunks on XBLA, which is slightly odd. Is Microsoft against episodic games on XBLA? Is that why Telltale has been mostly absent from the service?  We’re guessing Jurassic Park will be an episodic downloadable on PS3, assuming PSN is back up six months from now (I kid, I kid).

Accompanying the announcement is some new gameplay footage of JP, with 360 button commands all over the place. Be sure to keep watching to the end to see just what a hungry T-Rex can do when you fail a button prompt.

I'm excited for this, but I will say that the facial animations, particularly the lip animations are pretty awful. It worked with Back to the Future since it was a more cartoony style, but with the realistic style they're going for here it's awkward.

That lipsyncing... No wonder why it got delayed.

@NotBraze I was going to say the same thing. The lip sync is really, really bad. It was almost as rough to watch as the original Resident Evil's cut scenes. Telltale usually does good work though. Hopefully that's one of the things they are smoothing out in this delay. Damn, I still need to finish their new Monkey Island...

Im kinda glad that this is coming out because I think there is a lot of potential for these types of games. Im sure the animations and things can be worked on until the release day. the rest of the game looks pretty much done so hopefully the final results should look good.

    Heavy Rain: Dino Edition

Just watched the whole thing and had a few more thoughts: Some of it looked quite nice, especially looking at the dino in the headlights of the car. I thought that really captured the feel of the first film. I had no idea the game was so quicktimey. I thought it would be more point and click, inventory items, etc. Maybe the PC version won't be as button-mashy? Jesse is annoying as fuck. I was ready for her to be eaten 3 minutes into that video.

I seriously hope that deal to publish games on the 360 includes their "Walking Dead" game as well.

Great, because we totally need more poorly written Heavy Rain games with annoying ass characters and generic voice acting and ANNOYING ASS CHILDREN! fuck

So where is this in the story line? Also seeing the T-Rex and Triceratops made my day!
  • BlindPilot42 - April 28, 2011 8:43 p.m.

    What great voice acting!!!!

"JESSie! JESSie! JESSie! You really shouldn't run off in Jurassic Park, Jessie. There's lots of dinosaurs in he- "Dad dad a Triceratops can I hhhhgaaave one? I'd love to have one. Please dad come on" "Ok, ok...let's go get a Triceratops from zee wasteland"

I kept thinking to myself, what would happen if a T-Rex came out of nowhere and just recked everyone. And then it did.

Can a game be called good when the only reason it looks like it'd be worth playing at all is just to see how many ways you can purposely kill the characters in it? LOL I do give it props for at least allowing the kid to die horribly....

Weird. I totally loved every single second of the video...yeah the lip syncing is really bad, but I don't really care about that, because the QTEs are awesome! I love them...I'm really glad this will come to consoles too! =3 Wait...it's the week of hate right? Crap, I can't hate dinosaurs...
  • therawski - April 28, 2011 9:48 p.m.

@YoshiAteMyBaby Classic, we go save Jessie with drunken farther but I'm not a killar! I really don't want a my Jurassic Park game to be all quicktime events, I'll just want to laugh endlessly at all their possible deaths.

This is the worst looking game I have ever seen from the first 4 minutes of it
  • Lando81 - April 28, 2011 11:17 p.m.

    @Gatorfan122394 You're fucking retarded
  • call_me_curtis - April 29, 2011 12:01 a.m.

Hahaha oh man...I had such high hopes for this game too. Its pretty bad when the scariest part of a Jurassic Park game are the character animations. Dont they know what a graph editor is? Damn...
  • sgloomy - April 29, 2011 12:17 a.m.

Graphics look extremely good, the voice acting is way better than heavy rain, and it has dinosaurs. I know it's not a finished game but they gameplay lacks a fluid transition from scene to scene and the movements are a bit clunky. but seriously, who cares, its a Jurassic Park game, that is enough reason for me to buy it!!
  • Z-man427 - April 29, 2011 2:40 a.m.

It looks like fun, but I won't pass judgement until I see more of it
